The Truth

The truth is, I would carry his stone;
I would slay his demons and carry him home.
The truth is, I walk on my own;
But his heart won’t have to be carried alone.

Icebergs

His failures are beautiful strokes of lightning
The waterfall running
A beautiful warning
A star still forming
A winter mourning

He falls like icebergs crumbling in the sea
A white snowfall covering the trees
The wind in the evening as you finally feel the breeze
A moment of reckoning that brings you to your knees

Valor

It takes alot of strength to be a good person
It takes alot of steel to not make it worsen
It takes alot of fuel to keep the flames burnin’
It takes alot of prayer to never feel a burden

So you shed another skin and you’re mending up your heart
It’s been patched so many times that it keeps falling apart
Make it up the hill before his love can depart
Climbing all this time, I guess it wasn’t very smart

Lay down my rifle, lay down my pen
Take a breath, count to ten
I’ll give forgiveness just don’t ask when
I still search for peace though I’ve lost all my zen

It takes a lot of dark to appreciate the day
But when you make it through there’s no reason left to stay
What does the hero do when he’s only come to pray
What does the writer write when there’s nothing left to say

Grey

She is cut from a different cloth…

It’s like she can see through his masks to read his thoughts
It’s like she can cut through sin at any cost
It’s like knowledge of her reminds you of all that you lost
It’s like you punish her even though it is always your fault

It’s like she’s sorry she didn’t mean to see through these doors
It’s like she tried to move on but she’s stuck on these floors
It’s like she’s picking up pieces and bandaging sores
It’s like she’s fighting for peace when you only want wars

It’s like the light goes in and comes out in a different way
It’s like a prism of color wrapped in the words you say
It’s like I’ve waited forever so what is another day
It’s like it may be raining but my hearts no longer grey

Yeps, still love you *sigh*

I dropped spoken word of this on my Tuners account the other day…

Silhouette

He is a masterpiece
My eyes do not deceive
In silhouette of starlight
He gets the best of me

A silver crescent moon above in his sky
Under careful watch of his truthful eye
He gives me courage so I have wings to fly
My heart will gladly testify

There’s never poison in the bait
Or written words that adulate
The path is narrow but always straight
His love leads me to his holy gate (a place I never ache)

I don’t know how your holiday went but I focused on growth and light.

Marigolds

She knows not what she is holding
An infancy of love he is hoping
I can see his galaxy growing
While her orbit is slowing

Crown jewels are in his eyes, blue as skies
His hands belong with truth, never lies

His hair is a field of dreams
On which sunlight beams

She knows not what she scolds
He passes hope out like marigolds
And like the sun he is a centerfold
And worth more than all the gold

A Visit From Lu Part 2

Read: A Visit From Lu Part 1

A Visit From Lu Part 2

Now it is true Lu has been after me since about 1978
Ever since I fled the compounds of those Pearly gates
Restricted to forever yet I castrated my own fate
I fell beyond the heavens to see what love I could create

“Alright, enough with the charades”, Lu had finally said
“Why did you call me here” as he leaned across my bed
And I a child started giggling until my face was turning red
But careful is the food I chew when it’s the devil passing bread

It was in this moment that both our eyes connected
I often wondered how many souls he had collected
Which of the seven sins had the best method
And was the numbers what they both expected

Those numbers won’t mean anything, if Lu can’t collect, both of my wings
Black as onyx, soft as silk, one feather would please all the kings
There’s unspoken pleasures that my feather brings
There’s only one in the world with the deed to these blessings

“First off Lu, I never called you here”
“If I were to pray now, it would be for you to disappear
My soul is not for bargain, let me make it clear –
I seem to remind you year after year…”

And now he knows I am speaking truth
Honesty, it’s what earned my wings of youth
He knows lying here, will never be of use
It is why I’m such a challenge and one he cannot lose

To be continued…!?!

Read: A Visit From Lu Part 3

How are you liking this fantasy religion stuffs? Should I continue the story with part 3? I’ve been sort of taking the long way around, so I haven’t really got to the bread-and-butter yet. 😄

Really dig the last line in the 2nd stanza tho, I did goods there, right? 🤔 Made it worth writing part two me thinks.

Mercy

I have been living in the shadows of the unworthy
I have been skipping in the streets of doubt

I gave a lot of hell to reason
I took a detour on the wrong route

My hands became bloodthirsty
After my tongue experienced drought

I lost the better meaning
Building bridges with no way out

I’d welcome his friends any season
Because mercy was made not to shout

No Pretense

You say there’s no reason for our unfriending
But why do I feel like it’s always near ending
We never even got a proper beginning
There’s always another you are attending
And here I go with more words of offending
I wish these messages I would stop sending
Or maybe more kindness from you is worth lending
If you are confused I am too comprehending
These situations that keep us from ascending
I’ll do what I can to keep from descending
I’m grateful for you and will go on defending
Thank you for allowing my childish venting
At least you’ll never find me pretending

Seconds to Love

He is not the bird in a cage
He is not the burn, or the flame

He is not the bird falling from the sky
He has not the look of abandonment in his eye

He is not doubt, he is not the plague
He is not boredom nor is he rage

There is a stillness in his frame
There is melody in his name

There are not faults to rectify
Music is his only alibi

There are no moments to be void of
He will only take you ten seconds to love

There are no reasons to recon with
I always thought love was just a myth
