I tell gentle lies
To myself
To ward away grey skies
My bones often disagree
My cries will drop me to my knee
My brain repeats “he loves me”
And even when I’m resting
My subconscious too believes
And so by every waking the lie repeats
He loves me
He loves me
He loves me
He the sun and I the moon
That’s how much our distance grew
That’s how little we both knew
That’s the reach my love for you
That’s the road to greet you too
I lie and say I’m halfway there
I lie and say that you do care
I tuck it deep within a prayer
And color over this nightmare
I say good morning love instead of farewell
And it is here that you will always dwell
You can find my love in heaven or hell
