All They Gave

All he gave her was his word
A direct line where love occurred

All she gave him was her heart
And she loved him from the start

All he gave her was his best
Every word jewels from his chest

All she gave him was more hope
A rainbow instead of a tightrope

All he gave her was a dream
With love shining as a moonbeam

All she gave him was his sight
Though he falters he is still her knight

Me just writing and dreaming of love… xoxo

Halo

He must love her like the wind
Wild and free and without end

His love must be the sun
Warming life from where it’s numb

His touch must be the moon
For the soul an endless womb

His gaze must be the light
Turning darkness into color overnight

His voice must be a dance
Where angels glide in a trance

His hope must be a rainbow
Forever glowing as her halo

Her love must be an ocean
Deep it goes her devotion

Shooting Star

He wished upon a shooting star
Speeding faster than a Jaguar
He whispered “bring me something more”
And black as night her wings stretched out to soar

Her wings flew with the sound of thunder
Filled with things to make him wonder
One day feels like an endless summer
With love to make him ever younger

His eyes a key to her angelic soul
With lips to cure and make her whole
For when she fell she had one place to go
And you know you wished to be her Romeo

I’ve got a birthday incoming in 6 days!! #firesign #leo #ruler

My only birthday wish is to become friends with the one I love… ❤

Fingertips

Fingertips on black ink
Hands and mind never in sync

Fingertips keep chasing blood
Again it might as well be mud

Fingertips as cold as ice
The pits of hell from where she writes

Fingertips don’t play that nice
She leaves a trail for where she cites

Fingertips could warm my face
Instead they spray my eyes with mace

Fingertips that own the place
But he was gone without a trace

Fingertips that write the lies
And only one who really tries

Fingertips could save the day
Instead they chose to walk away

Fingertips in black ink
Wishing you were here with me

Fingertips under her sheet
Wondering why it’s never me

If fingertips could only speak
What sort of words would they leak

This absence that you’ve given me
Leaves me feeling incomplete

Woven

Can I have a moment
Can I have your time
Can you give me something
That is only mine?

Can you stay in focus
Can you clear your mind
Can you remain unspoken
And see our love refined?

Can you forgive what broke us
Can you leave worry behind
Can you feel our souls are woven
That our souls aligned?

Am I anywhere in your universe
How much more silence will you enforce
Why do you seem to be moving in reverse
Would you love me for better or worse?

Clue

I’m on an island of a thousand tears
If you took a boat you could find me here
Silhouettes of you in the clouds appear
Echoes of your voice in the atmosphere
On my knees in prayer I gently kneel

I drift alone on this bank of silence
Every tear another wish for your guidance
Reflections in the waves I see your diamonds
Nothing fills my need more than your iris
Open up your eyes you’ll see your alliance

I know your past and still I love you
I can be your future should you want me to
I can be your now should you pursue
I can be that friend you never outgrew
I can be whatever you need if you haven’t got a clue

The Trouble With Goodbye

Moments, however fleeting, live in the now
We watch time receding, as though a tide on a shore
We swim towards tomorrow with hope as an anchor
We stick our feet in time always hoping there is more
And every grain of sand is a memory that we store
We lock them in the past and hide behind a door
We walk on yesterday where our feet cannot explore
We softly wrap up lies and then tie them with a vow

Empty and Alone

I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone
I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone
I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone
I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone
I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone
I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone
I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone
I don’t have anything
I don’t have anyone

Etcetera, etc…

Vessel

Tell me all you know
Run the hours late
Let’s see how far we can go

Open wide your window
Unlock your hearted gate
Ride the future slow

I am a vessel for your secrets
An alter or your priestess
A mobile stage for your weakness
A friend for when you need it

I can follow or be your guide
When you’re feeling lost inside
And be there if you need a ride
Anytime, I’ll be by your side

Unlike a shadow in the dark
I would never break your heart
I’ve been loyal from the start
I’ve been told love is an art

Feeling so inspired lately… ✌️

Thoughts n’ Thangs

He laps her like a loyal dog chained by the guardian of hell, her purgatory – his territory

He kissed me and the Earth started to spin…

You could have just loved me the way that I deserved.

I shriveled up and died of unimportance, in case you hadn’t noticed…

Nothing I love ever makes it home.

Love. Love. What love?
It fits more like a tourniquet
I don’t want any part of it

My eyes met his eyes which awakened parts of my spirit unknowingly sleeping and even now my pulse dances anew…

He looked deeply into my eyes and said he wanted to make love to my sorrow –
So that the eyes looking back would look forward to tomorrow

She tied the anchor to my foot and pushed me off the plank while yelling, “at least you got some good poetry out of it…”

His smile made me whole. His love is a lighthouse in a dark galaxy.

Mannequin

I’m like a mannequin in a window that you’ve only come to browse
Or a lion in a city when I’m really just a mouse
I’m the lie that keeps repeating when you haven’t any vows
I’m the girl you stopped defending just because your words arouse

I’m the contact in your mobile though you haven’t got my cell
I’m the address you keep needing though you know I live in hell
I’m the one who gives you meaning when you’ve lost your will to dwell
I’m the love that keeps you dreaming but it’s never parallel

I’m the moment you kept dreading but now it’s come and gone
I’m the reason that you wake up when there isn’t any dawn
I’m the one who says I’m sorry when there wasn’t any wrong
I’m the one you call a queen but you treat me like a pawn

I’m the silk from your mouth when you needed just a muse
I’m the gold that you won but forgot on the cruise
But for me you’re the boy who removes all the blues
And I’m just a girl hoping I’m the one you will choose

I wonder if he loves me in the real world…

Because it would make me happy if he did… ❤

A Raft Named Hello

I built a raft from my tears so my love could sail into your foreign skies
I etched a map with blood and stains made from all your lies
And drew upon her side HELLO but she’s better with goodbyes
But still my hand aptly wrote her name across her guise

And from my fears a wind took hold which carried off my back
And anchored in its belly are the cares from which you lack
And settled in the hull are all the nights that I lost track
Moments lost in time but they filled me with your black

There may come a time when it finally reaches you
A chance to recognize and understand its value
A moment to cherish what you never knew
But I already died from failure of rescue

Wilderness

There is a place I go in the wilderness
Where you and I exist
The trees grow fruits of bitterness
But from them we never chew

You gently take my hand and kiss
And clouds do form from eagerness
Inside they fill with love and bliss
And rain on us so feverish

Vines will grow from our love
Fires will burn from our glow
We may kiss fast or we may kiss slow
Our laughter it reaches the gods above

I love when you whisper in my ear
You tell me you love me and call me your dear
That’s probably my favorite thing to hear
Because I really love you too

© Delia Ross. 2019

Sunrise

He awoke in me sunrise after sunrise
Prisms of dawning to an eager eye
Sweet melodies of hoping on the wings of birds that fly
His lips the Eagles soaring in crystal blue skies
His presence a gentle breeze helping you to grow wise
Or the light from the silver moon gently caressing all of your highs
His love the very foundation for when I became alive

For he is the whole sky, the pounding heartbeat, the rising love, the dancing feet, the breeze for my chime, the entire reason I get by…

Ghosting

The future without me you seem to be hunting

Or maybe inside you would rather be hurting

Maybe it’s just a hand and you’re bluffing

For numbers and games seem to cost you nothing

Everything you write keeps your “other friend” blurting

Everything you do her opinion is asserting

(And if I do the same you’ll hit the delete button)

My ghost that you seek will shortly be coming

Endings

Why do you seem set for us to fail
Darling, I want everything you’ve got for sale
And even all the worry hidden underneath your veil
I really really love you in case it’s hard to tell
It matters not the ending you’re the story to my tale
We finally found our Eden though we’re stuck a bit in hell
Let’s walk into our ending leaving love among our trail

And for us both I hope another decade or so
I don’t need the sun when you’re the one that makes me glow
You’re everything I need and there’s room to grow
Your voice is all I need to ever get me through the low
Your kiss is all I need to ever warm me in the snow
Your hand is all I want when I’ve gone as far as I can go

Anytime, Anywhere

I need you in my dreams
I need you in my prayer
And even when you’re absent but I know that you are there

And when my days are dark
Or I may not seem to care
I tuck you in my heart
And I send another flare

For no matter how it seems
Or what it is I share
Or if the line is straight or if there is an arc
Or if the patterns broke or if I left a mark
I love you anytime, anywhere ❤️

In case you forgot I love you

I still very much do

but even more in fact

Illuminate

I walked across the desert with the Devil
A slow trot ensuring I was careful
He gave me paper and then he gave me pencil
He talked as though the world was rather sterile

He showed me war he showed me death
And I saw things that took my breath
And still I marched into the depth
And on I march while getting deeper yet

The writing’s on the wall contain disillusionment
And not a cry ever sounding jubilant
And though it pale a voice to help illuminate
And at his wall I felt my soul rejuvenate

I took to paper and then to pen
And as I wrote I felt again
I spoke of how but never when
My dreams with him are filled with zen

And though his touch cannot be felt
It is his words that make me melt
And care not how his names are spelt
For in his heart is where I’ve always dwelt

Poetics

It is love or poison, of to the degree, I know not which
His poetry less a curse and more designed to bewitch
And on his words I become a drunken wretch
Or to his command a dog that would obey and fetch
Or a bounty hunter lurking to collect
From a coffin closed to standing at erect
I lap them up regardless the effect
They woke me from a dream I can’t detect
A passage of time from which I overslept
But his words I read are simply perfect
And like an avid reader I love his best

Undiscovered

I live in the words of how another sees me
I live inside the bruises of past enemies
Ex-lovers chain me to memories of who I used to be
Held to the past of visions I am now blind to see

Many with offerings of second chances
But none offer a dime to help with my finances
I’ve been under their rule and cancelled the classes
That girl died when I removed her tinted glasses

I had to untangle the worry where it had knotted
I had to prune the weeds where my heart had rotted
I had to learn to dance where my memories were haunted
I had to hug the parts they all said were unwanted

I may be alone but I am not desperate
People may change but I’m still a skeptic
I may be tame but I’m growing restless
I may be weak but I’ve never been helpless

It is true I’ve taken many lovers
My past is filled with several colors
Regrets have visited over many summers
So much wasted time for a love still undiscovered

All Bets Off

He does not exist anywhere except for on this page
And in a downward spiral my sadness turns to rage
The crowd keeps applauding though we both have left the stage
And if I ever mattered is now difficult to gauge

Will my heart always remain behind a cage?
That’s a bet for losing and I haven’t any wage
I’d ask him for forgiveness but I never act my age
I’d ask him for a hand but I know he won’t engage

Drowning

Do you know what it’s like to cut the cord on your dream?

Though it isn’t just a dream from sleep

But one from awakening

It is a lifeline to your fate

The weight of consequence
Feels like an ocean
As you’re sinking

There are moments you want to swim back up
Fleeting moments of reason
Caught in a net of fishing line

More struggle

No you have to sink deep
Feel the pressure in your chest
The anxiety, the agony, the sorrow

You want to take a deep breath
It would be your very last

Panic. Now regret. Doubt.

Peace will come again.

As soon as my pocket knife cuts this cord
And I race to ascend
The light my friend
A reasonable decision
Air in my lungs again
Pain lessening

You were dead weight.
An anchor in my soul.

I swim towards finality.

I’ve made it to the lighthouse.

You are a memory I drowned away.
And I nearly drowned with it.

You would have been the last thought on my mind.

As you were always on my mind.

Unrequited love.

A pain I hope to never know again.

As I crawl off the shores of a dream that died.

I am never looking back.

Rainbow

I took a trail that he never did pave
I said goodbye to hands that never did wave
I killed the parts in me that required aid
I buried the love he incorrectly weighed

I’m still uncertain what is my worth
According to him it’s not very much
I felt the pain of a missing touch
My soul wanton and fully crushed

I watch him give his time to another
Her love so possessive it seems to smother
Meanwhile our distance only gets further
And our rainbow is finally losing color

Black and white rainbows reside here
I drown big pharma so I can’t feel
I killed the parts that time won’t heal
And with this lesson he taught me I dissappear

Dust and Worry

I wonder under all the dust and worry
Does he ever wish he took a different journey
Will he change the ink and start a different story
Can he clear his vision where it has been blurry

Where the wall is high and the gate is locked
Where her head appears where a door is blocked
Where she keeps her eye on the prey she marked
Where the middle is the plan she plot

And I a whisper or a thought
Or just a dream he never caught
Or a reason he never saught
Or the love for which he should have fought

It matters not if I am up or down
Or if I am sideways or standing
My love for him is never-ending
And should be worn like a crown

Depression Avenue, Anxiety Lane

My brain says to go left
So my feet instead go right

My soul says to give it up
Yet my body puts up a fight

I’m so tired of feeling low
But my eyes stay in the light

Everybody thinks they know
But they haven’t got the sight

Round and round the Sun may go
But my days aren’t very bright

I have shelter from the cold
Yet my heart has frostbite

I am scared so I act bold
But I mostly feel uptight

Angelism

I traveled far just to find his den
I walked barefoot through the Garden of Eden
I passed graveyards of original sin
I ate the apple and I’d do it again

Under his altar
I heed to prayer
I kneel and I receive offer
And taste his holy water

Where I begin to transcend
And I feel clean again
My wings stretch and extend

Church bells ring with a deep moan
The harvest comes where he does roam

His scripture flows deep in my vein
Where under his rule my enemies are slain

His kiss and touch my communion
With every moment I feel more human

I bless him with eternal devotion
Our souls together gently woven
When one my halo is golden
Fully healed and never broken

In my soul his name is etched
On my heart I wear his crest
With my love his soul is blessed
Together we are at our best

Burned on my wing is our decree
It wasn’t written to deceive
Two pieces of the puzzle now complete
A map to our destiny

Endless Love

I found a dream once
In a bottle
Walking along a white shore
Beaches of the whitest sand

Tides that whisper softly
Wishes and wants in the breeze

The bottle an endless joy
From which I drink again and again

Melancholy a distant sun
Enough to keep warm
But never burn

Oceansize kisses
From his tongue
To my soul

Seagulls swooping
Bringing poetry
In their sails

Skies of glass
And shattered clouds
With every peek he is there

Love is the breeze
From which he descends

A salty essence or tears
From times he cried
When I wasn’t here

The love is life
And I take shelter
Underneath his seashell

My sighs like morning dew
Where everything rises
Into something new

Rebirth in the stars
Fears chase comets
And forget us here

Every footstep a memory
Of what’s to come

A set of two
Of everything we’ve done

A beautiful moon in agreement
Of the life we choose
Forever full

And white beaches
That never end

Made For You

You know how much I love you, don’t you?
Because you feel it too?

I cannot explain the oceans size
Nor why your eyes hypnotize
Or how I know your tongue lies

Your voice a deep thunder in my soul
It rattled me and shook me whole!
And like the big bang my love grew tenfold

You’ll find my love in the stars
You’ll find my love heals your scars
You’ll find that it was always yours!

The heat of the sun, for you, my desire
And even now the stars burn brighter
You set my entire existence on fire!

My heart for you an eager disciple
Ready and awaiting your arrival
This is love at its very primal

In every fiber of my being
And every dream I am dreaming
For you, every hour I am needing

Oh please love find me soon
It shines as bright as the Moon
As it was only made for you

I’m So Scared

I’m so scared for that little girl
Who grew up abused in a broken world
By men who only ever used

Who never taught her love
Or how to be well
No one will care
Unless to get rid of

That little girl now five foot six
It matters not if love exists
For it has never reached her lips
Love serves only as a crucifix

Oh how I cry for her!
To her family a stranger
To the world a number
To death an anchor

I cannot save her though I tried
I must now stop being her guide
For I only seem to make her cry
And make her pain multiply

Oh how I hold her tight!
And squeeze with all my might
Her eyes blind from sight
Her body coiled from fright

She is a desperate, fragile thing
The gentleness of a morning spring
A seed in the dark in need of blooming
She is the breath of an angel singing

Oh how I know her aches!
I know her dreams and her mistakes
I know where her branches break
I know the thunder her cries make

Tiny frail hands always with blessings
Teaching others love was always the lessons
Helping others was always the message
But now it’s time to end the sessions
