Her tears slip from heaven
Soft and smooth as satin
From a vacant cloud
With a silken shroud
Full of sorrow in its possession
Sunshine is now in recession
Cold winds of knowing
An angel upon sorrowing
The truth makes the rest a lie
Consequences rage and ramify
Tears as heavy as hail
As they fall, they impale

He does not exist anywhere except for on this page
And in a downward spiral my sadness turns to rage
The crowd keeps applauding though we both have left the stage
And if I ever mattered is now difficult to gauge
Will my heart always remain behind a cage?
That’s a bet for losing and I haven’t any wage
I’d ask him for forgiveness but I never act my age
I’d ask him for a hand but I know he won’t engage

Do you know what it’s like to cut the cord on your dream?
Though it isn’t just a dream from sleep
But one from awakening
It is a lifeline to your fate
The weight of consequence
Feels like an ocean
As you’re sinking
There are moments you want to swim back up
Fleeting moments of reason
Caught in a net of fishing line
More struggle
No you have to sink deep
Feel the pressure in your chest
The anxiety, the agony, the sorrow
You want to take a deep breath
It would be your very last
Panic. Now regret. Doubt.
Peace will come again.
As soon as my pocket knife cuts this cord
And I race to ascend
The light my friend
A reasonable decision
Air in my lungs again
Pain lessening
You were dead weight.
An anchor in my soul.
I swim towards finality.
I’ve made it to the lighthouse.
You are a memory I drowned away.
And I nearly drowned with it.
You would have been the last thought on my mind.
As you were always on my mind.
Unrequited love.
A pain I hope to never know again.
As I crawl off the shores of a dream that died.
I am never looking back.

It’s not enough that I am sadly. I camp inside the thick blanket of sorrow watching joy trickle like a slow leaking faucet…

I took a trail that he never did pave
I said goodbye to hands that never did wave
I killed the parts in me that required aid
I buried the love he incorrectly weighed
I’m still uncertain what is my worth
According to him it’s not very much
I felt the pain of a missing touch
My soul wanton and fully crushed
I watch him give his time to another
Her love so possessive it seems to smother
Meanwhile our distance only gets further
And our rainbow is finally losing color
Black and white rainbows reside here
I drown big pharma so I can’t feel
I killed the parts that time won’t heal
And with this lesson he taught me I dissappear
© Delia Ross. 2019
I watch him dance through trials and tribulations
It’s not by chance he takes to pain through cadence
And I in stance abide with eyes his credence
Each circumstance a step to heal your grievance
His perfected prance the way he spins through reason
And I in trance but it mostly feels like freedom

I wonder under all the dust and worry
Does he ever wish he took a different journey
Will he change the ink and start a different story
Can he clear his vision where it has been blurry
Where the wall is high and the gate is locked
Where her head appears where a door is blocked
Where she keeps her eye on the prey she marked
Where the middle is the plan she plot
And I a whisper or a thought
Or just a dream he never caught
Or a reason he never saught
Or the love for which he should have fought
It matters not if I am up or down
Or if I am sideways or standing
My love for him is never-ending
And should be worn like a crown

My brain says to go left
So my feet instead go right
My soul says to give it up
Yet my body puts up a fight
I’m so tired of feeling low
But my eyes stay in the light
Everybody thinks they know
But they haven’t got the sight
Round and round the Sun may go
But my days aren’t very bright
I have shelter from the cold
Yet my heart has frostbite
I am scared so I act bold
But I mostly feel uptight

I traveled far just to find his den
I walked barefoot through the Garden of Eden
I passed graveyards of original sin
I ate the apple and I’d do it again
Under his altar
I heed to prayer
I kneel and I receive offer
And taste his holy water
Where I begin to transcend
And I feel clean again
My wings stretch and extend
Church bells ring with a deep moan
The harvest comes where he does roam
His scripture flows deep in my vein
Where under his rule my enemies are slain
His kiss and touch my communion
With every moment I feel more human
I bless him with eternal devotion
Our souls together gently woven
When one my halo is golden
Fully healed and never broken
In my soul his name is etched
On my heart I wear his crest
With my love his soul is blessed
Together we are at our best
Burned on my wing is our decree
It wasn’t written to deceive
Two pieces of the puzzle now complete
A map to our destiny

I found a dream once
In a bottle
Walking along a white shore
Beaches of the whitest sand
Tides that whisper softly
Wishes and wants in the breeze
The bottle an endless joy
From which I drink again and again
Melancholy a distant sun
Enough to keep warm
But never burn
Oceansize kisses
From his tongue
To my soul
Seagulls swooping
Bringing poetry
In their sails
Skies of glass
And shattered clouds
With every peek he is there
Love is the breeze
From which he descends
A salty essence or tears
From times he cried
When I wasn’t here
The love is life
And I take shelter
Underneath his seashell
My sighs like morning dew
Where everything rises
Into something new
Rebirth in the stars
Fears chase comets
And forget us here
Every footstep a memory
Of what’s to come
A set of two
Of everything we’ve done
A beautiful moon in agreement
Of the life we choose
Forever full
And white beaches
That never end
© Delia Ross. 2019
You know how much I love you, don’t you?
Because you feel it too?
I cannot explain the oceans size
Nor why your eyes hypnotize
Or how I know your tongue lies
Your voice a deep thunder in my soul
It rattled me and shook me whole!
And like the big bang my love grew tenfold
You’ll find my love in the stars
You’ll find my love heals your scars
You’ll find that it was always yours!
The heat of the sun, for you, my desire
And even now the stars burn brighter
You set my entire existence on fire!
My heart for you an eager disciple
Ready and awaiting your arrival
This is love at its very primal
In every fiber of my being
And every dream I am dreaming
For you, every hour I am needing
Oh please love find me soon
It shines as bright as the Moon
As it was only made for you

I’m so scared for that little girl
Who grew up abused in a broken world
By men who only ever used
Who never taught her love
Or how to be well
No one will care
Unless to get rid of
That little girl now five foot six
It matters not if love exists
For it has never reached her lips
Love serves only as a crucifix
Oh how I cry for her!
To her family a stranger
To the world a number
To death an anchor
I cannot save her though I tried
I must now stop being her guide
For I only seem to make her cry
And make her pain multiply
Oh how I hold her tight!
And squeeze with all my might
Her eyes blind from sight
Her body coiled from fright
She is a desperate, fragile thing
The gentleness of a morning spring
A seed in the dark in need of blooming
She is the breath of an angel singing
Oh how I know her aches!
I know her dreams and her mistakes
I know where her branches break
I know the thunder her cries make
Tiny frail hands always with blessings
Teaching others love was always the lessons
Helping others was always the message
But now it’s time to end the sessions

That sound is silence
The quiet act in violence
My thoughts in a riot
As if on autopilot
He is not the best
Not even a little
Though like the rest
I’ve set for remittal
Just maybe he is the worst
As I fell for him first
But he is an endless thirst
With no quench for the cursed
The damned be gone!
There is never any dawn
I must carry on
Where his ghost has spawn
I make love to nothing
A ghost I am hunting
One with his absence
A love without an address

It’s over, I sealed the coffin lid
I felt my heart die when I did
I left it with a sign that read “forbid”
And inside that coffin is where I hid
Now comes the peace I’ve been searching for since a kid

Words needn’t be backed up with a promise to have meaning
Lying seems to be the direction everyone is leaning
Tongues twist and slither without feeling
Inserting poison which keeps us from dreaming
And as the blood boils our hearts stop beating
Hate simmers and spreads in a cycle of repeating
And from this dark spiral we keep feeding
Outnumbered, my feet and love start receding
Here comes another decade of me screaming
Hope faded with the dawn of needing
My love is the only love that can bring healing
My soul is weary and ready for eternal sleeping
I fight to stay alive God willing
I wish I could stop my love from ever leaking
These demons feast from me and leave me freezing
As I lay dying I start believing-
Love is just an illusion to keep me from leaving
© Delia Ross. 2019
He had never known love before
It creeped around his dwelling but never knocked upon his door
But when she came, she came with the power of Thor
Her love roamed his heart like a wild boar
For she finally found the love she was searching for
© Delia Ross. 2019
Look how she hordes the truth
She wears it proud with certainty
Protecting her age of youth
Guarding her secrets for eternity
Beware, how he guards his eye
His vision blurry, his message unclear
Trapped in his own battle cry
His cape now full of fear
Tiptoeing into existence
Each with a different appearance
But it matters not that faces are missing
That tongues aren’t united by kissing
Inside her, his spirit roams
In each other’s arms they both have homes
Love is in the blood and bones
Together, they can carry many stones

I live where his garden grows
I rise when his sun shines
I hop between the rows of rhyme
And flower like a rose
As I spread across his vine
Are gone these constant lows
My spirit smells of wine
My sorrow burrows where nobody knows
I place every syllable in a shrine
And watch my tears decompose
I lose all track of time
While I’m bandaging my woes
© Delia Ross. 2019
The flowers growing
They are for spring
The wind blowing
For spreading your wings
The gold glowing
Jewelry for kings
The winter snowing
Backdrops for queens
The rhyme flowing
For other beings
The tears showing
Always for me
The trouble knowing
My life has no meaning
© Delia Ross. 2019
There is a tourniquet on her tongue
There is a swell in her heart where he stung
There are written words that remain unsung
There is a list of wrongs that they all hung
There is a trail of ash where lightning struck
There is a stem remaining from her petals he pluck
There is a girl with hope but never any luck
There is quicksand where her feet are stuck
There are rooms without any remorse
And days we seem to make it worse
Where life exists only in verse
They leak from pages and turn to curse
There is a small window where he may care
But you will never get to meet him there
He will pull the blind so they cannot stare
And wear a mask that says beware
There are stones to throw whether wrong or right
And reasons to keep them all up at night
There are teeth attached to mouths that bite
And mistakes so bright you won’t need a light
There are roads we build of the unknown
With caverns of secrets we will never own
And shame like ice we carve a home
Faces with frowns of moments blown
If you stop and take a look around
At your feet growing up from the ground
It grows so high now past your crown
This is where the seeds of love are found
© Delia Ross. 2019
His eyes or the ocean blue
His touch are where the mountains grew
His sky or an Earthly view
His words a permanent tattoo
His love or the harvest moon
His forgiveness is a sunrise too
My soul with endless gratitude
The universe is my eternal love for you
© Delia Ross. 2019
Take a bite of silence
Spread it like a virus
Watch the hour widen
Feel the pain ripen
As hearts growing calloused
Whose wall is tallest
Add it to the distance
A sweet tongue now viscous
A truth more painful than a lie
A hello more terrifying than goodbye
With all parties now listening
Two of the same are wishing
On a star which died many years ago
What remains is a shadow
Though they wouldn’t know
No they wouldn’t know
He remains as a scarecrow
Protecting over his soul
© Delia Ross. 2019
I have been living in the shadows of the unworthy
I have been skipping in the streets of doubt
I gave a lot of hell to reason
I took a detour on the wrong route
My hands became bloodthirsty
After my tongue experienced drought
I lost the better meaning
Building bridges with no way out
I’d welcome his friends any season
Because mercy was made not to shout
© Delia Ross. 2019
We all have skeletons in our closet
Some wear many masks
We all tuck lies in our pocket
With questions never asked
If any were to audit
They’d see plenty had been tasked
It would hit you like a rocket
The truth would come so fast
And it is as loud as a trumpet
Truth will feel harassed
A sinner of mistruth or a prophet
The unknown is so vast
If only he hadn’t known it
Our love might have last
© Delia Ross. 2019
I am trying to control the volcano
But still it erupts
I tried to adjust my halo
From slipping where it corrupts
My tongue not as tuned as a piano
And it dances where it disrupts
My feet unmatched the tempo
Crushing time where it galloped
But there resides love over my rainbow
And it will never leave you empty or bankrupt
© Delia Ross. 2019
The hour was late
Upon her arrival
The moon stood full
And without rival
Her thoughts were pure
Although in a spiral
Her body porcelain white
Like the gown of a bridal
With hands and feet
Weary from the travel
And an aching heart
Where rest was vital
The longer she waded
The stronger the tidal
Until one evening
She fell suicidal
And she lost the will
For any survival
As she lay dying
Where love left her jaded
Broken down and used
Feeling completely degraded
Unware these currents
Are where he’s incarcerated
And wave after wave
He keeps her sedated
Riding every moment
So terribly frustrated
Her eyes burn with rage
Blind to knowing she’s appreciated
Her soul out of control
And slightly tainted
A mouth full of salt
And truths complicated
Wave after wave
Keeps them segregated
Night after night
Though she waited
Sigh after sigh
Was poorly translated
Cry after cry
Unsubstantiated
But this is the love
They both have awaited
She built a raft
And sails towards love created
I hope this time
Her heart is illuminated

So much confliction
Fight or flight
Wrong or right
Light or night
Blind or sight
Retreat or height
Met every road with conviction
An angels plight
In battle for her knight
Where flames ignite
Love is written on the invite
The cure to my addiction
My heart in restriction
My actions in detention
The longer I’m without – the deeper I’m itching
The louder I shout, the harder I am reaching
But baby, ever since my eyes saw you I can’t stop twitching
Darling, maybe you could stick around and help with my affliction
© Delia Ross. 2019
I reach out and find nothing
Dust from which we are running
A love that keeps us hurting
His words which keep me buzzing
The farther we part the bigger the holes
The darker it gets, the wider it goes
These walls are made of thick shadows
With permanent ink on my heart he stamped foreclose
Trails of my love exposed and leaking
Eyes stained with tears from gentle weeping
Ex lovers like the paparazzi keep creeping
So many hurdles keep him from leaping
If only he would leave me a sign
Cast a light so I can see it shine
Take my love and divide it by nine
Change the story and write a new line
Our love was born from the divine
It will keep growing on through time
No other lover will ever have mine
I will forever be his valentine

Moving forward, turning corners, never finding home
Keep listening, less speaking, and most are always wrong
I go the distance that few ever roam
Universal lessons seem to keep me on my own
Often these tribulations can only be learned alone
Weakened and discouraged I’ll stop but not for long
My heart more calloused and hard like bone
Whatever it takes to keep me strong
With the wisdom of knowing that looking back can turn me to stone
And so this lesson I pack up and carry
The weight of them always seems to vary
Some are black and some are cherry
Some will taste like a strawberry
Some will make you say Hail Mary
Some are found in the morning obituary
Most will leave you cold and weary
With eyes that sting and oh so blurry
These streets have roadkill of doubt and worry
Self-medicate to try and heal
And get the energy to climb uphill
Another battle of self-will
Another demon I have to kill
Swallow the pain just like a pill
Buried deep so I can’t feel
There’s mostly lows and little thrill
And not an exit out of here
By now my soul is feeling ill
The answers are never clear
Tie my boot without goodbye
Can’t sit around to watch me cry
More of those with every sigh
If you could open it and peer inside
It would likely appear tie-dye
Like an endless horizon in the sky
Pinks and purples which mystify
There my soul longs to fly
Not depths of low but certain high
And now not a tear in my eye
You’ll never get close to me
I live by this decree
Very few are ever worthy
But God has a skeleton key
Buried under a Joshua Tree
Searching will leave you thirsty
The depths I’ve cried fill up a sea
And by this I’m already drowning
It’s past my knee
But the undertow came quickly
© Delia Ross. 2019
Here comes the dark
Creeping like a serpent
Like a thick, dark fog
It twists as a vine in my heart
She trades sex for love
He follows the current
Laps it like a dog
Ignoring my love above
She visits his dock
Sees behind the curtain
And I a slave or dove
Without a tongue to talk
Here, there, everywhere
She is lurking
Like a black smog
And I an angel without prayer
Eyes that burn with what it sees
Hands that never stop yearning
Tongues reciting the wrong epilogue
One soul left crying on her knees
© Delia Ross. 2019
I hope we can start where we never had stance
The circumstances surrounding just wouldn’t allow it
The messages once sent unclear in meaning
I needed time to understand what I was feeling
Moments caught with you were a dance
And while petite and frightened I still took a chance
Your voice and eyes left me in a trance
But it was really love at first glance
Your existence lifted my spirit
Inside this heart you are my dearest
My soul for you an endless lyric
Dreams of you I frequently visit
It is for you my hands are reaching
My body a temple ready and willing
If you walk my way I promise more healing
© Delia Ross. 2019
We were born inside fires
I know your deepest desires
I know how you are wired
I know your hands are tired
I’ll take whatever you give me
Please though less misery
The bumpy waves were temporary
Side effects of an angel in a hurry
For when I chose to see I saw it all
But honey you are worth the fall
When my thoughts are with you
It feels like deja vu
It’s not just my soul that aches
It’s not just my heart with earthquakes
Every single fiber of my existence
Wants to cover you in radiance
And though you found me running wild
Like an angel whose been exiled
For you, I am a loyal and tame creature
And your touch will ease my fever
Our orbits in a gentle pull
Your kiss warming me like wool
I’ll give you peace until my death
And love you with my very last breath
(I love you forever and ever and ever til death do us part and then even after I’m gone, you’ll feel my afterglow of love wrapping your soul. I belong to you).
Baby girl
Let it go
Let all the doubt
Sink down
To the bottom
And drown
Where all your tears
Have settled and been found
Pearls and diamonds at the bottom of the sea
All the traumas in your life that you don’t need
Baby girl
Rise your head up
Get above
His half-empty cup
When you smile the stars glisten
When you laugh they all will listen
The Moon now full and ready for kissing
How the Sun warms you when it has risen
The Earth solid to keep you from tripping
The wind dances for you to clear your vision
Baby girl you have got to fly
You’ve got to fight just not to die
To turn the cries into a lullaby
To still have love even after goodbye
Jupiter nurtures every single sigh
Look how he shines for you in the sky
You can remember it all if you try
You were not made for cages or shoes
Or to be handcuffed at the edges of truth
You are not broken it’s only a bruise
And though aging you are the angel of youth
Baby girl you can’t remove their eyes
Or their tongues or their lies
You can’t give them a rainbow in clear skies
Baby girl I know how hard you try
Always alone without an ally
Put the blades away
They cost more than you weigh
On your fears they prey
Hate will cause a heart to decay
Baby girl you do matter
Even when you stagger
The noise you hear is only chatter
End the book, close the chapter
Cross your arms and squeeze tighter
Now again and again and again
Now pick up a page and a pen
Love is coming you just don’t know when
I know how bad it hurts to be denied a friend
Even a comet will race towards the Sun to end
Because in the light is where you transcend
But in the dark is where you entertain
Searching for life and instead collecting pain
Your head buried not seeing the horizon
Your voice silent instead of roaring like a lion
You are enough so keep trying
You are enough
You are
You
She is not a tornado
She is the wind needed to sail
She is not ammo
She is the scope needed in hell
She is not woe
Her smile is hidden under veil
She is the result of a Weeping Willow
Growing taller where she fell
Where others only see shadow
She is the path of a hidden trail
She is not a black hole
She is the breath from which you inhale
She is not the wisdom of Plato
Or the beauty of a comet tail
She is full of love for you
Without measure and off the scale

My eyes with such vision they are a crystal ball
Things that I see leave me clawing up the hall
Revelations so heavy I’m breaking down my wall
Time always settles me but every time I fall
Try to pick myself up but instead I will crawl
Another day is gone without a hello or a call
I’m beginning to think I’ll never hear from him at all
And I guess I’m not as important as I once had thought
© Delia Ross. 2019
I know he is feeling wanton
And there is others that he is wanting
Silence keeps me a prisoner here
Slowly I am starting to disappear
For now my heart feels like cotton
Once hard, then soft, now rotting
Sweet and sour candy
For the forgotten

Taste his lips, his ecstasy
Reminding me the best of me
Warmth and love appearing
Covering as gravity
My temperature rising
Coloring me like flowers
And in this life a rarity
Knowing this is ours
All these hours
No more towers
You inside me hiding
I’ll take us gliding
Spread your wings
Dive into my springs
Ever flowing and never slowing
My spiral just keeps going
And love for you ever growing
There aren’t better things for kings
And off my lip sings
For you anything
You’re everything

I want to walk with him until the end
Stand before hell both condemned
As long as he holds my hand
I can face whatever God will send
I want to touch his face
As the world falls, feel his embrace
Holding me tight to ease the ache
Protecting me from the bite of fate
I want to see his eyes at the end of a rainbow
That is where our kisses go
That is where our love will grow
The end, together, is an afterglow

His words take me to such heights
Atmospheres I have never flown
In moments I am taking flights
Through fields of the unknown
My soul must look like the Northern Lights
I wonder if to him I glow
And if it is to me he writes
It’s not possible this I know
But that’s a doubt for different nights
When we’re flying over the Arctic Zone
His words as invitation invites
Thaw the places I have froze
For in his words I take deep plights
Blooming from the ashes where I’ve grown
The way his words in me incites
The rise of a feather, not the weight of stone
I take it in, I take the sights
My life less monochrome
Our souls tangled together like kites
My eyes engaged completely where you roam

His eyes
Create galaxies
Heavenly bodies
And earthquakes
In my bones
His eyes
Blue as a sky
For my mind
Shining diamonds
A favorite prize
His eyes an ocean
Deep depths to explore
Creating motion
Sinking evermore
My heart his shore
His eyes like waves
Crash into existence
Can they see
I was made for thee
Without permission
His eyes cast rays
Heating my skin
Warming my days
I can feel again
For him love always
© Delia Ross. 2019
He arrived during my storm
Lightning and crashes and bleeding thorns
I had not a sign to warn
And there was not an exit for him to turn
And though his silence did cause concern
For him, a bypasser watching me form
Inside the eye where I yearn
A witness to my fury and my charm
My winds so strong he flew from my arm
And I in regret for causing him harm
His patience for me wraps me and keeps me warm
Calming my tempers and lowering my horn
Gently kissing my existence where I was born
Settling my winds so I can learn
Repairing the parts in my heart which are torn
For every moment apart it’s him I do mourn

I already knew I loved him
Though not the hour when
I already felt at home
In a place I’d never been

Baby, why do you hide?
Is there room for me inside?
Baby, why have you run?
Is it something that I’ve done?
Baby, why did you go?
Am I someone you don’t want to know?
Baby, why are we hurting?
Do you feel we’re not worth it?
Baby, why do you fear?
Everything we wanted is finally here.
Baby, I didn’t mean to push you away
Please tell me you’re coming back someday?
Baby, why do you haunt me like a ghost?
When I’m the person who misses you most

It doesn’t exist
Nothing is perfect
But we exist
And I can’t resist
My lips to kiss
All that’s hurt
To find a perfect fit
And to worship it
Just like magic
Until my love is felt
For it to bring you rest
Let it nest
Let it connect
For you to accept
I’m not done loving you yet
It’s time for you to resurrect
Remember I fell for this quest
To make your life blessed
To whisper sweet nothings on your neck
To rest my worries on your chest
And to have finally slept
Beside your very best
That’s all we have left
Love is the subject
For you it was meant
In my soul it is etched
In my spirit it is dreamt
Through my heart swept
Underneath my breast
With both hands prepped
Where both feet leapt
And both knees bent
To you who I can’t forget
Who put me to the test
Who made me wept
Where all my love crept
With all my patience spent
Crawling where you are sketched
Wanting your respect
Hoping my love you won’t neglect

How did it come to be?
Two strangers growing stranger
Rooting and growing under the same tree
Where both souls are endangered
What fruit did we eat?
That put our life in danger
Eyes that see and tongues that never speak
But love that tames our nature
Give me seed
Not a glacier
Walk with me
For the remainder
