There’s luck, and there’s curse
There’s lies and there’s verse
There’s living but this just hurts

I will always love him and he knows I always will
But it will never matter as monsters cannot feel
© Delia Ross. 2019
It matters not that I am human
Or how to his darkness I can tune in
He cares not if he keeps moving
That his soul is never fluid
And his cruelness is often proven
A beautiful soul gone to ruin
He sets his hand to always losing
He lives in shadows to keep from blooming
He is primal like a druid
© Delia Ross. 2019
Speaking of druids, this is a forever mood
Father of Lies, Angel of Light, Crooked Serpent, Prince of Darkness, Satan, but you can call me Luci;
Now that you are getting to know me.
Antichrist, Beelzebub, Wicked One, there are so many,
Little Horn, King of Babylon, (I can go on), Abaddon, the Devil, the Most Unclean-
Whatever my name, there is another three.
Yet with all these names, so many will not believe
I am a carrier of light, shifting like transparency
The world is full of doubt, a goal I did achieve
It is mostly certain now, I am here to deceive
Temptation is the game, what is it that you envy?
Write out the list, I know the need
Your soul and bones, are full of greed
A buffet of sins, like gluttony
What is it that has you eyed?
How do you sleep at night while your tongue is tied?
Underneath the mask, there is so much pride,
Every word you speak, I know when you lied.
Centuries of fury, casting out your wrath
The demons are many, you haven’t done the math
If you think hell is empty, why did you choose this path?
If you think your hands are clean, from here I see a bloodbath
A sloth rampant with a taste for lust
How easy you pick them out with tongues of trust
And damnation covers your soul in a thick, wicked crust
I watch the irony rush over like a face that is flushed
To be continued!?!

Read: A Visit From Lu Part 7
A character drawing of Lu, I managed to squeeze in many of the names he goes by, the definition of Lu, as well as the seven deadly sins. Hope you enjoyed…
P.S. I never call Lu by his full name, I don’t know if you have ever picked up on that.
The sky shows grey
The air smells of rain
This home is absent any memory
This mind is void of all sensory
There is moon but no champagne
Cold is remorse running in his vein
There is sound but no symphony
There is love but in its infancy
There is patience but he’ll refrain
And forgiveness he might entertain
Silence is my only company
Regret now a probability
© Delia Ross. 2019
I don’t know how to say I’m sorry again
I know coming and going seems to be a trend
I really hope forgiveness isn’t a dead end
I really hope for me your hand will still extend
Like towering clouds of doom
Your absence fell over my wound
Huge swells of sorrow circle my room
I hope to hear from you again soon
© Delia Ross. 2019
I really am sorry 😵
You will hear me say “fell” but I was chosen for this
The wings on my back come with selfless service
Many call me a hero while acting a servant
I look at hell like it is just a big circus
Fitting in was never for me
I never felt whole completely
I observe with eyes like something is missing
I try to behave while the world acts beastly
I paint white over my wings
I count the hands that take a swing
I pull the wool over my king
I don’t want him to see such things
I try and smile without showing my teeth
I don’t know why people are surprised to find what’s underneath
I rub the doubt which make my wings feel like concrete
And then I look for a direction I can retreat
I remember the day Lu and I first met
It is a night I never will forget
Back then, I had a different mindset
And he will not leave until I settle my debt
Lu has always been there watching over me
Darkening the souls of everyone I need
The lust of humanity is filled with so much greed
I cross a tight rope and darkness I will bleed
I know hell like the back of my hand
I run the same halls of the land that you stand
Some halls go deeper than you can
Some things you aren’t meant to understand

Read: A Visit From Lu Part 6
What, a seventh stanza? This series is out of control! This is what happens when children are allowed to be in charge of things…
Right, so I realized I needed to introduce the characters, our angel here is a warrior who tries to blend in with society but utterly fails. She’s not meant to, but she tries. She’s an outcast who sometimes forgets her worth…
Is there anyone here still with me reading this series!?!
Excuses are the only thing people will proudly show
And if the perception ever shifts, it’s into a direction they never grow
And if you ask them questions they always reply that they don’t know
And if you ask for help they’ll point to a direction you can go
They’ll tell you their mind is open when really it is closed
And when it comes to your life they will be always be brown-nosed
If you peek in their direction you can see their fears exposed
It’s a dog-eat-dog world where sensibility decomposed
© Delia Ross. 2019
You know these types right? They always have their nose in your business? They have your life completely figured out and don’t understand why you don’t? They always look at you with the intent to find fault. And they will even poke and prod you until you bite them and then they scream, “that dog is crazy, it bit me!!!!” Even though the dog is completely tame and loyal and will only bite in self-defense. They always have someone to aid their defense, “yeah, that dog bit her!!!” But the fact is the dog would have never bit if you hadn’t fucked with her… and that is why we have fences so stop jumping my fence and poking me then crying “crazy” when I bite. Grab a mirror, get in the fucking sea already. I don’t have a history of violence or crazy so try again. But, whatever makes you sleep better at night, right? I’ll tell you what makes me fucking sleep, weed. It also helps me not give a shit that you’re such a fucking asshole.
You can change it but then nothing changes except maybe faces if you live through the ages
You can hold grudges but then nothing’s worth shutting out the love she gives when it’s mixed with your ashes
She took all that skin you hid and she turned it into crosses
She prayed for the things that you did and turned it into magic
She drew a bridge over the sorrow and a tunnel through despair to bring you a brighter tomorrow
And though you gave her wings piercing sharp edges
She cut through your night and exposed a boy who’d gone missing
She tiptoed delicately and softly into your heart
Once inside she carved her name into your soul
And it ticks like a chime
And connects to her rhyme
And she’s with you all the time
And now you dream again
And hope is a sun
And day is a chance
And tomorrow is forgiven
For what crime is living
If you can’t have her around
Are you really going to be the stone that takes her down?
How many have you thrown at her now?
Do you line her mistakes up in a formation?
When she crumbles do you feel the vibration?
Does it give you a lot of appreciation?
When she falls do you feel a better man?
She put a dream in your hand
She made you feel something again
And now you wish her to be a better friend?
© Delia Ross. 2019
I just think people’s mistakes aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. Sometimes the innocent fall. Especially when faced with burdens and dilemmas (and often revelations). But the guilty will be the first to cast the stones. History has proved this time and time again… I had things I needed off my chest. I wasn’t going to do a rhyme and then I was and then I wasn’t and that seems to be the flow of the poem. It is what it is…
Take me out to that royal blue
My eyes were always briny for you
Your words would cover my heart with your dew
And open were my eyes to the view
You drew landscapes of us in a sea of love
And navigable rivers my hands had become
And oceans of poetry that fit like a glove
And swollen were hearts on these boats that would come
My breath like wind fell choppy
Passing were rivers of doubt and nothing could stop me
High were the tides of your hope that was never rocky
Straight was the path to your heart, never winding
© Delia Ross. 2019
My heart wants what it wants. It doesn’t understand the who, the what, the when, the why, or the how. It just wants the now. I miss you.
“What time is it?” she asked hesitantly
“Time for me to pay attention to you”, he replied
“My favorite time”, she said
© Delia Ross. 2019
They say I’m crazy but I’m really just a child
And when they act up I start acting wild
And when there’s no attention it only makes me riled
It’s like everyone’s a tribe and I’m the only one exiled
They say I’m crazy but I never did grow up
They don’t call me cougar cuz I’m still a cub or pup
Being an adult just wasn’t in my cup
It only requires nurturing to watch me develop
© Delia Ross. 2019
I’m a flower and if you pour light on me watch how I bloom (you can call me tulip)
Nothingness matters
Gravity in the darkest seed
Too many hers floating in his seas
Lick the hand where it bleeds
Watch the hate fill the need
His wrongs cancel any good
He’ll lie and tell you I misunderstood
Straight from the pits of Hell to a young girl’s neighborhood
He’s never known integrity anywhere he stood
I’ll never forgive him even if I could
© Delia Ross. 2019
Why are you always hiding?
Like fragments of light
Pieces of the rainbow
Hidden in the night
Fractions of a dawning
But barely any sight
What deed left you aching?
And kept your soul from taking flight?
© Delia Ross. 2019
I wish I could fix his broken pieces…
She makes me rise like the sun
And I burn and I come
She puts the speed in my blood
She puts the rush in my flood
She puts the pulse in my thumb
She makes the sorrow go numb
Goddess of grace and equilibrium

I don’t know how but it slipped my mind
And the devil’s first trick was well designed
I guess purgatory belongs to mankind
A week now has passed that I cannot rewind
He checked his watch, it must be a quarter past 3
And it’s been 2 days now he hasn’t heard from me
And for a change he turned on that dusty TV
In hopes to scramble thoughts he had been thinking
And somewhere in that tube the news was all the same
There’s chaos in the streets and the devil is to blame
There’s violence in the feed and no one feels ashamed
Repentance is for souls the devil can’t reclaim
The scientists claim that it is global warming
The bible warned God brought down the flooding
Revelations hint of a second coming
The devil bets the world thinks God is bluffing
He takes a shot of whiskey while changing the channel
The voices mumble ‘there’s nothing we can’t handle’
And now the weather is showing that flights are cancelled
But none of these things can take his mind off his angel
He checks again his computer and phone
He’s tried a hundred times her location is unknown
And he feels the worry sink into his bone
Her last message sent said she wasn’t alone

Oh my goodness, if you are an atheist, I am in no way trying to convert you and if you are religious this is in no way factual, it’s just fantasy. And if I can get to where I’m going with it, it’s an end of the world love story with themes of angels and devils and humans and whatever other stuffs I dream up. So far there’s at least four characters in the story, if you were to count technology as an entity (the tv voices, clocks/time, etc) and there’s a particular mood and tone and flow I am trying to keep throughout, not to mention I’m attempting this in poetry format, with some 24 lines each chapter/part (6/4). PHEW, IT’S TUFFS. (And I see people get likes on post that say nothing at all but skip giving me any praise for attempting something meaningful). We all run the same halls in hell. Whatev. If you like cool, if you don’t oh well. I still put up effort all the same. 👍✌
*It’s really scary me sharing this stuff, anything I do, I feel raw and exposed and inadequate as is, there’s always that fear of failure, that it isn’t good enough*
Zero love
Fainted hope
Raw fingers
Twisted rope

Few words, big impact? I attempted 10 words but felt 2 more would put it off balance. Plus, rebel.
I suppose I could add ‘suicide note’ but you know it’s implied.
Take it all away, so I can’t feel
Don’t take it all away, I will never heal
You took it all away, and that wasn’t the deal
When you took it away, my heart turned to steel

In my head it’s the birth of a song
He has no self-worth
He’s not the best, nor the worst
But pain he will bring forth
And his love is cursed
Truth rarely circles Earth
But it is what I thirst
I ache for a rebirth
Or for a hand to nurse
© Delia Ross. 2019
Gone but now back again
And by the end of the week
You’ll be missing then
It’s becoming routine
A cycle of ends
And now another peak
Is there ever zen
If honesty were to leak
I needed a friend
So frail and rarely meek
Are these Earthmen
It’s not what I seek
And you are carcinogen

Could use a fag now actually… (do Americans know it’s slang for cigarettes!?!)
I disabled the comment threading and sorted it by oldest first so now comments should be really easy to post and to read! I couldn’t stand that comment threading bullshit. And to other bloggers who use comment threading, I recommend you disabling it because it’s a pain in the ass just trying to read or respond to your blog post. It took me all of 30 seconds in the settings to sort it. If you need helps, let me know. It’s totally okay to ask me for help.
Also if you come at me with a metaphorical gun, I’m locked and loaded with a metaphorical fucking grenade launcher and basic training in the Army taught me how to use a real one! You might want to think twice about picking a fight with me. I have NO FEELINGS.
P.S. I’m actually one of the sweetest people you can ever meet, just don’t tread on me!

Wherever we were headed I changed the route
You seem to only fill my love with drought
The road that I am heading has no doubt
And so it is your hand I can do without
Whatever I was feeling now is gone
I packed my tears and I’m moving on
I closed the chapter and dismissed your dawn
And now the truth remains to be drawn
© Delia Ross. 2019
Tuck me into twilight
Let your lips touch my dreams
Your love is the skylight
And hopeful are its streams
The Moon is a spotlight
Where you can find my love every night
And every star in the sky –
The amount of times you made me sigh
I love you through all eternal
I will always be your angel
Unto you I will be faithful
This love is yours to cradle
© Delia Ross. 2019
Wrap it tight, wrap it snug
Insert love with every word
Never rushed, never slurred
Ensuring messages are always heard
Now take the love and cut in thirds
Put on blinds so eyes are blurred
Gift denial so minds are stirred
Undo connections and act absurd
Destroy the paths, silence preferred
Hide in the dark, act a coward
Give them doubt to march toward
Give them pain where love was stored
© Delia Ross. 2019
His love is like an eclipse
Or the highest peak of a mountain range covered in clouds
His love is a wild river overrun
A dry desert now muddy
He has energy like the Northern Lights which flutter in my soul
His grasp is a tether tied to my love
© Delia Ross. 2019
(I want to turn this into a rhyme so badly but…)
Am I suppose to stop loving him? I need answers.
Laying in bed crying every night,
And I don’t understand why it’s so hard to give up the fight.
Hope is like the stars that twinkle in the sky;
So far out of reach that the hope already died.

In a world of cowards and liars
They call themselves writers
I was just a girl in a sea of “hers”
I was just his toy to see what stirs
© Delia Ross. 2019
There she is, it is death on the horizon
And follow my sorrows she will
Until the day I end
There it goes, all the light from the Sun
I was looking for love where none of it was real
I was looking for hope in any direction I could ascend
There it flows, my hope is on the run
And bring with it a fear that covers with chill
While the devil whispers softly “suicide is your friend”
© Delia Ross. 2019
She knows not what she is holding
An infancy of love he is hoping
I can see his galaxy growing
While her orbit is slowing
Crown jewels are in his eyes, blue as skies
His hands belong with truth, never lies
His hair is a field of dreams
On which sunlight beams
She knows not what she scolds
He passes hope out like marigolds
And like the sun he is a centerfold
And worth more than all the gold

I’ll take the middle of the night, when I’m feeling alright.
I’ll take the middle of the rush, I can never get enough.
I’ll take the middle of your love, where it fits like a glove.
I’ll take the middle of the page, and the center of your stage.
I’ll take the middle of your lie, the part you said you would try.
I’ll take the middle of the day, it feels the same anyway!
I’ll take the middle of knowing, that is where truth starts glowing.
I’ll take the middle of goodbye, that’s where our love died.
I’ll take the middle of nowhere, that’s the place I don’t care.

The trouble with forever
It happens rarely ever
They put it in a letter
Then say that it is treasure
The trouble with forever
It happens next to never
They promise you less error
Then leave in stormy weather
The trouble with forever
For worse or for better
At first they give you pleasure
Then the rest is only terror
The trouble with forever
It feels light as a feather
It promises only leisure
But it’s gone once there’s pressure

A Visit From Lu Part 3
Lu entered my door bringing despair
He had it gift wrapped for extra flair
He covered it in agony to make it look rare
He had a look of concern but I know he didn’t care
So there we were both grinning –
Like in a game of chess but the devil’s always winning
The only hand I play is a joker never sinning
The only life I live is the one I’m never living
As Lu drew nearer he sat upon my table
Like an uninvited guest who should leave but isn’t able
And I am starting to feel very unstable
But my doubt only makes Lu more grateful (and we sat there through April)
Now the window shows that it is winter
And the fear is growing in my center
And all this doubt makes my tongue bitter
The devil got under me without lifting a finger
It’s like if I move a piece I’ll open Pandora’s box
And you know the devil can crawl just watch how he talks
And you know the devil can dance just watch how he walks
And you know the devil is purgatory just watch all the clocks
I’m damned if I do and I’m damned if I don’t
Whatever move, Lu will condone
He is a step ahead, anytime I’m wrong
How do you knock a devil off of a throne
To be continued!?!

Oh my goodness, 3 was a challenge! Notice how the devil seems to be moving his way throughout my house/life in this series? The underlining theme in chapter 3 is depression (purgatory). As well as, how we need to be careful about the choices we make in life. I didn’t set out for it to be this way, it’s just how the story developed. I hope you likey (the 5th stanza is my favorite)! 😊

Words like the finest silk
Words to comfort like mama’s milk
Never condensed but fully whole
That’s why he occupies my whole soul

And so I keep going over it
I wear it however it will fit
I put it in my heart and see how it slips

Beginnings in endings
Soft steps of destiny
Like pillows for the needing
Love letters for the mending
Like lovers when they’re healing
When time is for the stealing
Your kiss is the life I missed
Your kiss will stop the apocalypse
When love is like an eclipse
When doubts are in the abyss
When safety it is this
When silence are my lips
Home is your kingdom in my heart
When worlds come together, not apart
When my hand is your start
Where your step is the best part
Your existence my art
Where my love will never depart
© Delia Ross. 2019
I write these words for you, they are yours, as is my heart.
It was like into a black hole my life was ejected
If pain had been running for presidency, it would have been elected
Now when I’m on my knee the pain feels more infected
Now when I think of you my heart feels more congested
Will you ever tell me why my heart was not accepted?
Will you take all my love and put it in a necklace?

If words had weight
If wrongs had reasons
If wounds didn’t ache
If forgiveness had seasons
If goodbyes came with rainbows
If my love was chose
If only I was enough
If only he’d show up
If hands had healing
If tears had feelings
If life had meaning
If hearts were beating
If moments were real
If love were ideal
If lights were not blinding
If you would stop hiding
If galaxies were moving
If darkness stopped the blooming
If alibis were candy
If heartaches were brandy

If only I knew how to end this fucking heartache…
Read: A Visit From Lu Part 1
A Visit From Lu Part 2
Now it is true Lu has been after me since about 1978
Ever since I fled the compounds of those Pearly gates
Restricted to forever yet I castrated my own fate
I fell beyond the heavens to see what love I could create
“Alright, enough with the charades”, Lu had finally said
“Why did you call me here” as he leaned across my bed
And I a child started giggling until my face was turning red
But careful is the food I chew when it’s the devil passing bread
It was in this moment that both our eyes connected
I often wondered how many souls he had collected
Which of the seven sins had the best method
And was the numbers what they both expected
Those numbers won’t mean anything, if Lu can’t collect, both of my wings
Black as onyx, soft as silk, one feather would please all the kings
There’s unspoken pleasures that my feather brings
There’s only one in the world with the deed to these blessings
“First off Lu, I never called you here”
“If I were to pray now, it would be for you to disappear
My soul is not for bargain, let me make it clear –
I seem to remind you year after year…”
And now he knows I am speaking truth
Honesty, it’s what earned my wings of youth
He knows lying here, will never be of use
It is why I’m such a challenge and one he cannot lose

How are you liking this fantasy religion stuffs? Should I continue the story with part 3? I’ve been sort of taking the long way around, so I haven’t really got to the bread-and-butter yet. 😄
Really dig the last line in the 2nd stanza tho, I did goods there, right? 🤔 Made it worth writing part two me thinks.
I guess you could say we are acquainted
We had similar falls, our wings are tainted
But now I am older and my sins have faded
And though it’s been decades, Lu has gladly waited
He knows I don’t like him coming around these quiet parts
But that doesn’t stop Lu from having a heart-to-heart
He may own the land but I have the right to depart
But the places I am going, may require some charts
He never knocks, he just enters the room
And my temperament goes from glad to gloom
The air gets colder as it’s filled with doom
I turn away and mumble, “I don’t wanna talk with you”
Lu takes a seat and starts whistling, “What I’m about to tell you might be chilling”
As I was headed to the door proudly not listening,
Lu started hissing
My step slowed and nearly faltered
From the snake gripping down under
And now the moment felt awkward
As I wondered this time what Lu offered
The thing we had most in common was our grin
Which is odd, given that, it should be sin
But when it comes to purity, I’m the best that’s ever been
And I heard him hissing “favorite” with the moonlight shining in (he’s at it again)…

What am I but skin and bones
A kingdom of right and wrongs
A street of worry and heavy are each stone
Once his muse, now a girl who moans
Watch how he exits and dethrones
He hasn’t a backbone
What am I but a bruise that won’t heal
And to his lies I won’t back down and kneel
And to his demise just a fifth wheel
And why I’m the scapegoat I’ve no idea
There is no resolution, there is no choice
There is no evidence of a voice
Now pull the plug but don’t rejoice
His love is simply white noise

Can you love a man?
But not know him?
Does love exist?
What type is it?
Can you want a dream?
Without anything?
Can you feel a thing?
Without noticing?
Can you give it a try?
Without the alibi?
Can you draw the line?
Some other time?
Can we start again?
As a real friend?
What can you admit?
Am I that easy to quit?
In comes another nail
The devil on my tail
He smiles while he impales
Off my sorrow he sails
There he goes again, always with the wind, there he goes again, always with the end
© Delia Ross. 2019
I thought that he was far away but he doesn’t exist
I thought they were a bouquet of poems, not a blade to cut my wrist
For a moment, I felt loved, now I feel his fist
And whatever I’ve done, well he’s over it
One, two, three, four, there’s so many grabbing at his line
It was written for her but now nevermind
And if he can’t have her, we get zero rhyme
If he only knew they left us completely blind
He kept us marching so long in the desert
And thirsty we were for any squirt
We were just disciples for him to hurt
And the connections that were made he doesn’t give a fuck

Sun salutations
Wrong allegations
Misweighted information
Long lines of waiting
Years we spent wasting
Love we’ve been chasing
Hearts have been breaking
So tired of hating
Constantly debating
Everyone is faking
Lying & taking
People are shaking
The world is deteriorating
What sort of end are you after
Destroyed it all, even the laughter
Killed the love in the heart of the matter
Took to flight, left agony here to gather
They are like Romeo and Juliet destined to be driven apart yet tethered together by the heart
Here it comes, the end again but this time he brought the apocalypse with him. Lasso my smile and pull down my grin cuz here it is the end again.
Did you know
Wherever you are
I still love you
Did you know
Whoever you become
I will always love you
And then he softly asked about my wants, “just forever babe, I’ll take forever babe”
Give my regards to Bacchus
Tell him I’m just a carcass
But if it wasn’t for his sweet wine
I might not make it through this time
He creates the wave
Then punishes me for riding it
The riptide pulls me under
And he watches me persist
I thought I was falling
I thought you would catch me
I thought I was falling
But it was only a hole
For my soul
Where did the love go?
All I feel is empty
And cold, in this beautiful hole
You dug for me
Hello non-believer
Of anything
Here lies a possibility,
But could you believe her?
The edge is on the horizon
The horizon is how you die
But the wave you’re currently riding
Is the fear you feel inside
As the doom continues rising
So does the panic to decide
So now the boat where you were hiding
Is now the place your soul has died
As you think of all the times you tried
And you let go of hope one final time
Blame the shade of sorrow for why you cried
And your final word becomes goodbye
If you ever feel the sadness in you growing
You never were the reason for me going
Sorry if you saw my love as poison
When it comes to failure I was the chosen
And to a world that’s evermore vacant
You weren’t the reason for me ever staying
Love was something I never knew
And if my love was warm well now it is frozen
Take the wool and pull it over someone else’s eyes please
It’s like everyone is set on destruction mode
And I am set to go… here’s the code, 123, watch me blow
But what happened? I don’t know
And the sign says “you are too qualified”
And the sign read “you are too good”
I apply instead and still get denied
He’ll reply and say “you misunderstood”
And the eye will say “all welcome here”
And the room will stare, “are you misplaced dear”
And the mind will lie and replace the fear
And his hand extends, “this way’s not clear”
Take for granted my kindness I give to you
Take for granted the nights I tried to get through
Take my love and bury it six feet under too
You can’t kill it no matter what you do
She’s at it again, same ole tricks
Like a snake using sex to lure sin
Like a witch with a capture potion
It’s the only way she can get any licks
She was a doll and they all wanted her to break.
You’re getting close, getting close, getting closer
You’re moving fast, always last, getting older
Nobody knows, though we asked, for some closure
Same ratios, lethal dose, then it’s over
An angel slipped from the clouds of heaven
Looking over eternity to get a better view of him
Golden gates spread into the wide open
She spiraled down the hope of his dreams
And he awoke with her feather under his pillow
And from its tip, he spilled his ink all over her future
She danced among the wails of purgatory
Decades she waited outside walls of longing
She stabbed the night so light could shine through
And every star that twinkles is a wish she made for you
His step grows lighter, while her wing drags across his bruise
Her heart carries the weights of love
Her love so pure an ounce can make dreams come true
I slip into his poetry like a favorite pair of pajamas.
Living alone, hiding decline
Rainbows to prison at anytime
Dust keeps collecting above his faint shrine
So he keeps to settling among the lost swine
To me, he’s worth more than any gold
Long ago his self-worth was sold
He dwells among shadows as he was once told
He’ll need to find his courage to be bold
He’s so deep in me
My aura is spinning
And through spirals I’m swimming
In a loop of beginnings
And with a touch of fate, no endings
These soulquakes
I am a galaxy so faint you can barely see it.

Clippings from the sleeve of my heart…
He takes my mistakes and spins it like thread; And out from the web the finest dread
He takes my regret and puts it in the fire; And out of the pit come my worst desire
He takes my shame and puts it on his feet; And next thing you know he’s down the street
He takes my love and puts it on his mantle; Then he swears protection on his broken angel

Ruined! Ruined! He would croon
And sit I would under his Blue Moon
He’d stitch at his identity until noon
And come tomorrow sing a different tune

Essentially, all of our lives we are trying to figure out who we are. We all wear masks, don’t fool yourself. Welcome to ego. Destination: piss poor self-esteem or narcissism. Welcome to the 5th level of hell. It’s really hard to manage your consciousness here or “self”. I hope you brought rum… (and if not, why the fuck is the rum gone!?!)
Like pieces of Sycamore branching off
Exposing the white of the bark
Exposing the light from within my sweet heart
These pieces break off so you can build an ark
Now take your worry and leave it in the dark

I would like to be crafty enough to grow this one. Some of you find words like molasses. Others dig and dig and dig and still find none.
Caught between the devil and the deep blue sea
Caught between dilemma and what you mean to me
Caught between a wrong and caught without my sight
Caught me with my mind when it wasn’t screwed on tight
Caught between the truth and having privacy
But none of these reasons grant you the right to see
Caught between an answer and caught beneath the light
Caught between the bygones and a hand that seems to bite
Caught between an angel and where a devil blew his horn
Caught between the towers falling in an endless mourn
Caught between a moral and caught between a fight
Caught between the will to not end my life tonight

I don’t know if I did that Devil phrase any justice but then I completely changed the rhyme scheme in the end but also many of the end words and then I couldn’t decide on whether to keep going or not… because feelings. And I know I could have carried on the rhyme scheme in the end but, rebel…
Years passed on and he always wondered how she got on with her life
But one evening, word finally returned, she ended her life that night
When he asked of her body, her grave, they said it was the ocean
She was never recovered from the boat she jumped, “there wasn’t a note son…”

So, thank you so much for 25,000 visits to this here blog cuz it just surpassed 25K! Woah. I wanted to write a 50 word short story in poetry format and since it’s October or nearly Halloween, I went with a death/ horror theme. I wanted to see how much impact I could give a poem with as little information about the characters as possible. I wanted there to be a sense of doom but also a feeling of empathy and unresolved questions. Like, did it make you wonder what happened to them? Just like he wondered all those years what happened to her. Did he imagine she was better off without him? Did he wonder if she was happy all those years? Does it make you wonder who they were to each other? Did you feel sad or gutted for him receiving such tragic news? Did you feel empathy or loss for him? Could you feel the mood or “put yourself in his shoes”?
By the way, I didn’t count the “the”, “and”, or “a”.
Can you write a 50 word short story too? I challenge you to do so, and brownie points if you can pull it off in poetry format. It doesn’t have to be a Halloween or horror theme, but if you’re up for the double challenge? I’m sure these 50 word short story thingys exist but I just came up with the idea of doing one in poetry format and Halloween themed. If my little story moved you, hit that like button or drop me a comment. And definitely let me know if you do the challenge. 👻👻👻
Take my hand, replace the pen with blade
Remove the smile and put on the ache
Close my eyes and pull down the shade
Memories are better when they fade
Take the ink and spread it on my pain
Ensure the tears are gone without a trace
Organize regrets and hide their face
Erase the love that’s written on the page
Say amends but never say goodbye
The space so far he’d never hear me cry
If I could take his pain you know I’d try
And if he ever wrote I would reply

having feels
I am stranded in a tower of sorrow and I think I might need saving –
from the curse of a broken heart –
and how he left me alone in the dark –
but even worse drove a metaphorical spear into my side –
ensuring that my spirit died –
ensuring heaven was denied
Put a moat around my tears and get this blackness out of here
I am at the tower of sadness
Every hour in this madness

He said my love is poison
But I’ve only ever loved him
Spaces for him were in the deep wide open
As I made room to let love in
I may be in pieces, it’s true I’ve been broken
But I glued them together and now I’m bespoken
As for my heart, it was returned from where it was stolen
And my feelings for you are deeper than any ocean
