Dreamland

What islands must we breach, in a faraway dreamland, where the habits we keep, are safely out of reach, and the love we share, is a language we can finally comprehend?

What mystical gardens must we sow, where joy and hope is the grain that we grow, and your hand is the vine, connected to the very root of my soul?

What maps must we hunt, what fear do we uncover, that leads me to the forest where you are my lover?

What secrets do we bury, so your mask is less heavy, and my shadow will feel more like a friend not in a hurry?

What ship must I sail, on what troubles do we travail, will you follow me out of hell, can you live to tell our tale (what if I fail)?

What skin must we shed, what sorrow do we part, show me through the doors, that will lead to your heart, past the halls of the longing, through the deeds where we get our first start?

I need him so much it actually hurts…

Saddest girl in the world.. (Self-portrait)

You

You could give me gold, I am sure it’s what most want
But it will never satisfy, no matter what you flaunt

You can hide my eyes, but can you stop your voice
The one that’s in my head and loves without a choice

If I were to show you what is underneath my cloak
Do you think that you would like me, even when I spoke

You could send me flowers, anyone can do that
But the words that you’re writing, makes my heart so fat

You could take me places, but I’d rather be at home
The depths in your eyes are the streets I want to roam

You could play me music but what I really want to hear
Is your voice leaning in and whispering in my ear

So the things that I want isn’t much this is true
Because the only thing I want is to be alone with you

© Delia Ross. 2019

I’m not asking for much, I just want it all because you are everything and all I need (all I really want is my guitar and you) 🤓

Regolith

Life is so bland, so very dreary
But when I take the walls down
And I start to move around
The Moon she peers at me
As if I’m well and sound
And she offers me a different theory

Still the cold finds the cracks
And in creeps what I lack
And now it’s dark, I’ve lost the tracks
But tell me who really has your back?

Was it done for her or was it done for you
And is it something that you ever knew
Maybe you tried but you changed your view
When instead you should have changed your crew

Is it lack of discipline or are you really bad
Since depression took over she’s your only comrade
And so you tell the Moon the reasons you’re sad
And I can tell she understands a tad

Her regolith is made from fires
And you’re the only man she ever desires
And if the Moon is something you admire
It’s the same as why her love won’t expire

Some treat her like a chemical waste
And some responses were done in haste
And if it’s what you want it can be erased
It can disappear without a trace

Destination: Love

He is part of a world I wish I was in
The story is open, the pages are thin
Love is where I’m going but it’s never where I’ve been
The road is full of obstacles and requires some discipline

The clouds passing by bring a current of hope
The fog dissipates with all of my mope
The sun bursts with a new horoscope
The sky is a blanket where my sorrows can cope

I took my depression and left it in a back alleyway
I may return for it again someday
And when my fears visit, they’ll arrive in a beautiful bouquet
And if you ever forgive me, that day will be a permanent holiday

Set the controls to where my heart is churning
Look all directions, you’ll see our fire burning
There is never a day for you I am not yearning
Some practice of forgiveness is worth learning

I lied though, ‘cuz he is really my favorite poet. I can feel him inspire every little fiber and molecule in me… just saying.

Ripples

When your ink drops my soul will splatter
Like a ripple in spacetime, you matter
You are the one my dreams look after
Where reaching you only requires a ladder

When I hear you speak the Sun rises
And my love for you comes in all sizes
Your kiss is the best of all prizes
But your eyes are the best of all horizons

© Delia Ross. 2019

That boy does something to muh. I prefer to focus on the good stuff. Even tho he hates me…

Grudges

You can change it but then nothing changes except maybe faces if you live through the ages

You can hold grudges but then nothing’s worth shutting out the love she gives when it’s mixed with your ashes

She took all that skin you hid and she turned it into crosses

She prayed for the things that you did and turned it into magic

She drew a bridge over the sorrow and a tunnel through despair to bring you a brighter tomorrow

And though you gave her wings piercing sharp edges

She cut through your night and exposed a boy who’d gone missing

She tiptoed delicately and softly into your heart

Once inside she carved her name into your soul

And it ticks like a chime

And connects to her rhyme

And she’s with you all the time

And now you dream again

And hope is a sun

And day is a chance

And tomorrow is forgiven

For what crime is living

If you can’t have her around

Are you really going to be the stone that takes her down?

How many have you thrown at her now?

Do you line her mistakes up in a formation?

When she crumbles do you feel the vibration?

Does it give you a lot of appreciation?

When she falls do you feel a better man?

She put a dream in your hand

She made you feel something again

And now you wish her to be a better friend?

© Delia Ross. 2019

I just think people’s mistakes aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. Sometimes the innocent fall. Especially when faced with burdens and dilemmas (and often revelations). But the guilty will be the first to cast the stones. History has proved this time and time again… I had things I needed off my chest. I wasn’t going to do a rhyme and then I was and then I wasn’t and that seems to be the flow of the poem. It is what it is…

Twilight

Tuck me into twilight
Let your lips touch my dreams
Your love is the skylight
And hopeful are its streams

The Moon is a spotlight
Where you can find my love every night
And every star in the sky –
The amount of times you made me sigh

I love you through all eternal
I will always be your angel
Unto you I will be faithful
This love is yours to cradle

© Delia Ross. 2019

Rain

It is a light, warm rain, so it doesn’t matter
And the moon tonight is full as are your lips
And your eyes are staring at me like I’m her
A feeling that I’ve never had occur

And the only sounds we hear are mostly beats
And it’s getting louder every time we breathe
There’s some danky music far away in the streets
And the rain is louder falling at our feet

The trees are gently sighing with the wind
I whispered in your ear don’t let it end
But I knew that you would ask so I said it again
And as I was repeating you made a grin

I gently started shaking in the rain
It’s like you just released me from my chain
Or maybe just release from all the pain
And tears were the main attraction at this stage

Your fingertips remind me I’m okay
But closer to your lips I start to sway
And then your thumb will wipe my tears away
And neither have a thing we want to say

© Delia Ross. 2019

Sometimes connections are more than just sexual. Deeper connections require more work sure but isn’t the chemistry richer, the moments more meaningful, the things unsaid but everything said, I dunno, love is a rare element and shouldn’t you care for it and nurture it like a garden? Flesh kills the spirit if in the wrong hands. You believe it?

Butterflies

Falling further into his dark skies
Even in the lows he gives me highs
Even when he’s gone his cape will fly
And when I’ve crossed a line he still will try

I extend my wings cuz love defies
He hides behind a wall of sad goodbyes
There’s writings all around that shield his lies
He needs a lot of fuel to hide his sighs

He claims I’m just a hunter here to pry
But that won’t explain the butterflies
He thinks I’m just a doll who only cries
But that won’t change the winnings of your prize

You can change your hand but fate has not a guise
Even through your troubles I am falling for your eyes
I stab the pitch black night so I can feel you rise
Baby you free me, look at that sunrise

© Delia Ross. 2019

I find him incredibly sexy and he turns me into a raving beast actually but I definitely don’t want to hunt or cage him…

Sorry for the long rhyme and double rhyme in the ends but I think it worked!?!

I know it’s only been like 5 minutes since I said it before but I loves him.

Vices

Diamonds and pearls, may please the girls, but his kiss is all I desire

Leather and fur, might make me purr, but his eyes set me on fire

Boys and their toys, always want noise, but his voice makes me tremble

And the heaven in me, well it takes a knee, for his body is a sacred temple

I suppose flowers are nice, but the poetry he writes, makes my soul assemble

And if I had time, to put his lips to mine, I’m certain our flame would burn higher

“She lives on Love Street/ lingers long on Love Street/ She has a house and garden/ I would like to see what happens/ la la la la la la la la la la” *skips off singing The Doors*

Look man, I would totally let you climb up through my window and read me poetry. Yah? I think we might even like some of the same bands. Giggles It’s okay if you don’t know me, many people don’t even know themselves. Let’s get lost together, in each other, and found again. I’m ready. And you may not know your worth but I would take a bullet for you. I would do anything for you really. 🌛🌜

P.S. I’m just a girl (you won’t need superpowers but you already have them inside you).

P.S.S. you can get to know me without letting the world in (or end).

P.S.S.S. I am a safe place (I won’t ask you your secrets and I won’t guilt-trip you if you don’t love me the way I do you).

P.S.S.S.S. you know me, we’re one, like yin and yang. Sillies.

Starlight

Love her wild
Leave her full
Touch her mild
You will see her form

She will make your indigo glow
She will carve out a chunk so you may have a root
She will give life to the lip
In her, you can grow
You can wallow
You can save your soul

Let her jump in and taste your desire
Infinity is deep
So is her reach
And the distance you keep

The only witness is love
We’ve got that as our teacher
Even your name ends with her

She brings on the rain that can make you clean
Crawl under her to feel something

Your seeds were planted for sprouting
The direction you’re going needs a little rerouting

The night is pierced with scars
The light is breaking through
The doubt is gone from you
Watch her twinkle too

Togetherness

I see you everywhere.
But instead of faces in the crowd,
It’s worry in my brow,
In every hollow laugh,
In questions of why and how,
In responses of no but now.

I feel you in every reality.
While sleeping or barely coping.
When drowning but keep on joking.
Any time I feel like moping.
When my hands are bound from hoping.
The hundred sighs my mouth keep moaning.

My subconscious won’t let you slide.
And so I find you in every rhyme.
To an email I sent some guy.
It doesn’t matter who does reply.
I pretend it’s you every time.

My mind is in an endless dream,
And we’re together in an alternate galaxy.
And so if in that one it can repeat,
And every fiber of me too agrees.
We may be separate but I feel complete,
And when I talk to you I feel release.

Garden

I take my heart and I plant it in a garden
I bury it with love and grant another pardon
I cover it with grass so it will never be his burden
I would have given it to him but he found a better bargain
The seed might find the light but now I’m not so certain

Several years may pass and I’ll still be pulling weeds
Making sure he finds exactly what he needs
And if he ever asks, I’ll help him with some leads
The only thing I ask is happiness succeeds
And so I plant his rhyme in the better parts of me

Swollen Rainbow

When I take your hand
Don’t let it slip like quicksand
When I look into your eye
Don’t take us to a road where we divide

When I feed you truth
Just know it keeps my youth
And when I do pretend
It’s the only reality I recommend

My love was born for your journey
We can take it slow or we can hurry
When you find me underneath your swollen rainbow
I’ll kiss you so good it’ll make the time slow

© Delia Ross. 2019

My oh My

My dreams are the color of your eye
My pillow is the softness of your lie
My blanket is the breath under your sigh
My will existed the moment you said hi

My sun shines whenever you are near
My day starts when I have you here
My heart is protected in your sphere
My love is in the atmosphere

My wish was granted the day you noticed me
My truth is written here to see
My dare is to never watch you leave
My coven are the hopes that you weave

Outer Space

I am not his
No no no
But I can pretend like this

Today we went for our first coffee
And as he sat next to me talking
I wondered if he saw a zombie
But then he leaned in and kissed me softly

He is not mine
No no no
But I still call him my valentine

His kiss takes me to cosmic landscapes
One ounce of his love opens the floodgates
One word of his rhyme and I can’t keep a straight face
One glance of his eyes takes me to outer space

King of Sorrows

His divine right of suffering
King of the weepings
Destroyer of the weaklings
Master of your feelings
Mirrors on the ceilings
Where doubts keep repeating
And devils roam these evenings
Angels bow for healings
Desperate for his feedings
Mercy stops the bleeding
Will follow where he’s fleeting
His darkness as a greeting
Doom is where he’s leading
Every day keeps repeating
Nothing stops the needing
Where love is now receding
Where I’ve lost my meaning
He’ll never stop my dreaming
An enemy to your pleading
Your crime for ever seeking
The secrets he ain’t leaking
His patience nearly peaking
His angel never speaking
Whatever keeps him grieving
He gives what he’s receiving
Though neither want for leaving

On a whim, had to go freestyle, so many feels…and therapeutic. ✌️

Trajectory

I live on an island of a dream
My joy is his trajectory
His eyes are the only skies I need
His love is the only fruit I eat

I taste him in seasons
I kiss him in the trillions
I lean on the shoulders of meaning
I cling to the shores of his breathing

I rest my plight in the palm of his hand
For his every touch is the promise land
And it’s finally a journey I can understand
For this is the mission fate had planned

And on and on and on we go together
Every step with you I’m feeling better
Every hug from you feels like my shelter
Hurting you is never in the weather

3 AM snaps turned into 6 AM snaps instead

Maybe when my hair is long enough my prince will come save me?
Messy lipgloss part 1 (it’s 6 AM cut me a break). SAVE ME!
I live in oversized t-shirts. That shits gotta stop…
Hazel eyes, messy lips & a brunette with bags under my eyes from insomnia. Do you still fancy me at 6 AM?

The Kiss

I have this dream where we don’t talk
I’m in an alley having a cigarette
Waiting on a favorite band
And you appear

And I ask ‘what are you doing here’
But sweetly so no other can hear
There’s no one around just the rain
You stand and never explain

I smile anyway without regret
And you haven’t moved closer yet
And in a cloak your eyes are in pain
But I still smile anyway

I’m on the wall under a small balcony
Avoiding getting wet
Your hands are in your pockets
You don’t look as though upset

As the rain gets started
You move and take a step
And it kind of felt like lightening
My heart it felt it best

The patter of the rain –
Grew louder with every footstep
And every inch closer – I forgot more – of the alphabet

You get close to me and lightly touch my fingertips
And then you lift up my arm and take a puff of my cigarette

Your other hand still touching my other hand
You lift my head and kiss my lips
It’s hard to explain it
I thought I was alive but it was really the first thing I ever felt

© Delia Ross. 2019

Cosmic Street

There exists a world where we communicate
It’s daily in my mind to help ease the ache
In prayer where I kneel for you and wait
While dreaming even though I am wide awake

There is a road where you and I always meet
I follow a meadow to Cosmic Street
There’s never an obstacle to worry our feet
Your kiss is the very reason my heart will beat

Endless Love

I found a dream once
In a bottle
Walking along a white shore
Beaches of the whitest sand

Tides that whisper softly
Wishes and wants in the breeze

The bottle an endless joy
From which I drink again and again

Melancholy a distant sun
Enough to keep warm
But never burn

Oceansize kisses
From his tongue
To my soul

Seagulls swooping
Bringing poetry
In their sails

Skies of glass
And shattered clouds
With every peek he is there

Love is the breeze
From which he descends

A salty essence or tears
From times he cried
When I wasn’t here

The love is life
And I take shelter
Underneath his seashell

My sighs like morning dew
Where everything rises
Into something new

Rebirth in the stars
Fears chase comets
And forget us here

Every footstep a memory
Of what’s to come

A set of two
Of everything we’ve done

A beautiful moon in agreement
Of the life we choose
Forever full

And white beaches
That never end

Made For You

You know how much I love you, don’t you?
Because you feel it too?

I cannot explain the oceans size
Nor why your eyes hypnotize
Or how I know your tongue lies

Your voice a deep thunder in my soul
It rattled me and shook me whole!
And like the big bang my love grew tenfold

You’ll find my love in the stars
You’ll find my love heals your scars
You’ll find that it was always yours!

The heat of the sun, for you, my desire
And even now the stars burn brighter
You set my entire existence on fire!

My heart for you an eager disciple
Ready and awaiting your arrival
This is love at its very primal

In every fiber of my being
And every dream I am dreaming
For you, every hour I am needing

Oh please love find me soon
It shines as bright as the Moon
As it was only made for you

Made in Heaven (Movie Recommendation)

Made in Heaven has been my favorite love story and film since I was 10 years old. It’s currently available to watch for free on Vudu. It’s from 1987 and you shouldn’t even watch a preview, you should just go watch the film. If it doesn’t pull on your heartstrings, then you’re probably not alive.

It’s one of the most beautiful stories ever written and I cry every single time I watch it. It ruined me on love. In a good way.

I decided I’m going to write a poem about it, in fact, I’ve already started.

So if you’d like to watch a really really good movie, that isn’t based on sex, drugs, horror, and rock and roll, but is an actual good story with thriving characters, and a soaring cast, go check it out. You can thank me later. Get your tissues ready though. sniff sniff

The film is PG.

Can you handle a PG movie or are you so desensitized from modern movies?

If you do watch it, will you let me know what you think about it? 😇

That ending scene, OH MY HEART.

I feel like watching it twice tonight.

You’re Everything

Taste his lips, his ecstasy
Reminding me the best of me
Warmth and love appearing
Covering as gravity
My temperature rising
Coloring me like flowers
And in this life a rarity
Knowing this is ours
All these hours
No more towers
You inside me hiding
I’ll take us gliding
Spread your wings
Dive into my springs
Ever flowing and never slowing
My spiral just keeps going
And love for you ever growing
There aren’t better things for kings
And off my lip sings
For you anything
You’re everything

© Delia Ross. 2019

Kites

His words take me to such heights
Atmospheres I have never flown

In moments I am taking flights
Through fields of the unknown

My soul must look like the Northern Lights
I wonder if to him I glow

And if it is to me he writes
It’s not possible this I know

But that’s a doubt for different nights
When we’re flying over the Arctic Zone

His words as invitation invites
Thaw the places I have froze

For in his words I take deep plights
Blooming from the ashes where I’ve grown

The way his words in me incites
The rise of a feather, not the weight of stone

I take it in, I take the sights
My life less monochrome

Our souls tangled together like kites
My eyes engaged completely where you roam

Love Is The Subject

It doesn’t exist
Nothing is perfect
But we exist
And I can’t resist
My lips to kiss
All that’s hurt
To find a perfect fit
And to worship it
Just like magic
Until my love is felt
For it to bring you rest
Let it nest
Let it connect
For you to accept
I’m not done loving you yet
It’s time for you to resurrect
Remember I fell for this quest
To make your life blessed
To whisper sweet nothings on your neck
To rest my worries on your chest
And to have finally slept
Beside your very best
That’s all we have left
Love is the subject
For you it was meant
In my soul it is etched
In my spirit it is dreamt
Through my heart swept
Underneath my breast
With both hands prepped
Where both feet leapt
And both knees bent
To you who I can’t forget
Who put me to the test
Who made me wept
Where all my love crept
With all my patience spent
Crawling where you are sketched
Wanting your respect
Hoping my love you won’t neglect

Confessional

Confession
I fell, I stumbled hard
I completely fucked up his yard
And then I posted guard
Giggling and prancing about
Mostly being quiet but then I’d randomly shout
Can’t you see my sorrow or that I’m filled with doubt
And then I thought I heard some spoken word
It may have been a dream it may have been a bird
No no no I know what I heard
And further more I’d lose the road
As more and more his words had flowed
And less and less my step had slowed
Different voices with many tones
With different sorrows and different bones
And various speeds and different zones
My soul entranced, my heart felt home
And under his tree my mind did roam
Perhaps to places that weren’t my own
And maybe seeing things I shouldn’t have
Because even though I see I never did ask
But under his sun I remain and bask
And would you know one day I saw his eyes
I saw his lips I heard his lies
And I cared not about his disguise
I saw through it all I was paralyzed
And I remained though cut down a size
I make mistakes and get chastised
And fear expulsion from his garden
His lips have left me hopeful yet starvin’
And into his tree I keep carving
A spell for him and a spell for me
And into the hours I continue to dream
I just hope his eyes can see what I see
And I do only wish him the very best things
And to give him the space to spread his wings
There’s a river of love from where he sings
I can be the stone from which he springs
I wish he knew how much happiness he brings

Paradise

I need your starlight
The dreams the same every night
I fall asleep in your skies
I wake up to your kind eyes

And with a kiss the Sun will rise
And by your breath the wind chimes
And with your touch my eyes will dry
You are my favorite sky

Your lips are the best prize
Your eyes hypnotize
You are my favorite high
Your mind is a sunrise
Your love is a paradise

Warm Linen

I wonder if he writes me words like I do for him
Sometimes I reach out to only find a phantom limb
I’m learning that his desire for me is looking rather slim
There are many girls he likes but I’m not one of them
The spark for life that I once had is dying from within
Still I read his words and take a skinny dip to swim
I run around his sacred words like I am a pilgrim
My soul reacts and knows that he is one in a trillion
He probably doesn’t want it but he left me so smitten
I can feel my orbit gaining speed and spiraling
I still have the hope that he may be listening
And even though he rejected me I hope he is living
He’s so many miles from me it feels like a million
I want to wrap around him like he is warm linen

Wildflowers

My dreams are running wild
Into his field where I’m beguiled
My nightmares are exiled
Where every moment is worthwhile

I dance with him past midnight hours
Where passion burns inside his towers
Pain and mid-summer showers
Always remind me of his wildflowers

They grow best when the wounds are gone
When the breeze hums to a different song
Where your mood goes from dark to dawn
Such clouds we always dance upon

Please put it on my bed with some Forget-me-nots
Where his kiss removes all of the bad thoughts
His words always hit me in the right spots
He tends to my heart and is never cross

Tight Ropes

Such tight ropes we weave and trample
A love like yours I deserve to sample
Your flame is brighter than any candle
There’s not much that we couldn’t handle

I’ve never seen a face like yours
I’ve seen them all and lived through war
Walked every land, touched distant shores
You’re the only body I want to explore

© Delia Ross. 2019

Captive

I’d join your corps
Your lips can be the shore
I’m open to explore

The boat can capsize
Kisses instead of cries
Not many words we’ll vocalize

Are you ready for more
Something you’ve never had before
I want it all plus an encore

Forget that cigarette
We don’t need a corvette
Tho I would go into debt

Held captive under no demand
I’ve never been to his homeland
I heard he even has a band

Days on end I go no sleep
There’s treasures in the ocean deep
If he’s the farmer, we are his sheep

Last Rites

I think I’ve lost my appetite
Please administrator my last rites
Say a prayer or improvise
Say it quick before I die
My breath has ceased, my chest is tight
Love feels like a parasite
My friend she broke to suicide
Now in no one I can confide
But in him I see the light
It feels alot like paradise
If I don’t cool down I might ignite!
It’s possible I might die tonight
Please administrator my last rites
I surrender, there’s no will to fight

Grant me a Pardon

I say goodbye for him
I climb mountains with a broken limb
Battered down and wounded still I can feel
Do all I can to fully disappear
I’ve got him on my mind all the time still
And he’ll never know I was even here –

Attending to his garden
Watching his heart harden
Wishing I were less of a burden
If only he’d grant me a pardon
Please speak to the warden
But he hates me I am certain
