Eat his poetry like calories
Chew the words delicately
Roll them around my tongue
Taste them, make me young
Take a bite early morning
Swallow them and won’t be lonely
Sometimes they are sweet or sour
Chocolate candies at any hour
Leftovers or a second-helping
Can keep the wound from needing dressing
I will never leave a crumb
Even if they make me numb
Very few leave me sober
Every word helps through the layover
