A Visit From Lu

I guess you could say we are acquainted
We had similar falls, our wings are tainted
But now I am older and my sins have faded
And though it’s been decades, Lu has gladly waited

He knows I don’t like him coming around these quiet parts
But that doesn’t stop Lu from having a heart-to-heart
He may own the land but I have the right to depart
But the places I am going, may require some charts

He never knocks, he just enters the room
And my temperament goes from glad to gloom
The air gets colder as it’s filled with doom
I turn away and mumble, “I don’t wanna talk with you”

Lu takes a seat and starts whistling, “What I’m about to tell you might be chilling”
As I was headed to the door proudly not listening,
Lu started hissing

My step slowed and nearly faltered
From the snake gripping down under
And now the moment felt awkward
As I wondered this time what Lu offered

The thing we had most in common was our grin
Which is odd, given that, it should be sin
But when it comes to purity, I’m the best that’s ever been
And I heard him hissing “favorite” with the moonlight shining in (he’s at it again)…

To be continued…!?!

Interference

What am I but skin and bones
A kingdom of right and wrongs
A street of worry and heavy are each stone
Once his muse, now a girl who moans
Watch how he exits and dethrones
He hasn’t a backbone

What am I but a bruise that won’t heal
And to his lies I won’t back down and kneel
And to his demise just a fifth wheel
And why I’m the scapegoat I’ve no idea

There is no resolution, there is no choice
There is no evidence of a voice
Now pull the plug but don’t rejoice
His love is simply white noise

Pondering

Can you love a man?
But not know him?
Does love exist?
What type is it?

Can you want a dream?
Without anything?
Can you feel a thing?
Without noticing?

Can you give it a try?
Without the alibi?
Can you draw the line?
Some other time?

Can we start again?
As a real friend?
What can you admit?
Am I that easy to quit?

In comes another nail
The devil on my tail
He smiles while he impales
Off my sorrow he sails

There he goes again, always with the wind, there he goes again, always with the end

Mirage 2.0

I thought that he was far away but he doesn’t exist
I thought they were a bouquet of poems, not a blade to cut my wrist
For a moment, I felt loved, now I feel his fist
And whatever I’ve done, well he’s over it

One, two, three, four, there’s so many grabbing at his line
It was written for her but now nevermind
And if he can’t have her, we get zero rhyme
If he only knew they left us completely blind

He kept us marching so long in the desert
And thirsty we were for any squirt
We were just disciples for him to hurt
And the connections that were made he doesn’t give a fuck

Writings On My Wall

Sun salutations
Wrong allegations
Misweighted information
Long lines of waiting
Years we spent wasting
Love we’ve been chasing
Hearts have been breaking
So tired of hating
Constantly debating
Everyone is faking
Lying & taking
People are shaking
The world is deteriorating

What sort of end are you after
Destroyed it all, even the laughter
Killed the love in the heart of the matter
Took to flight, left agony here to gather

They are like Romeo and Juliet destined to be driven apart yet tethered together by the heart

Here it comes, the end again but this time he brought the apocalypse with him. Lasso my smile and pull down my grin cuz here it is the end again.

Did you know
Wherever you are
I still love you

Did you know
Whoever you become
I will always love you

And then he softly asked about my wants, “just forever babe, I’ll take forever babe”

Give my regards to Bacchus
Tell him I’m just a carcass
But if it wasn’t for his sweet wine
I might not make it through this time

He creates the wave
Then punishes me for riding it
The riptide pulls me under
And he watches me persist

I thought I was falling
I thought you would catch me
I thought I was falling
But it was only a hole
For my soul
Where did the love go?
All I feel is empty
And cold, in this beautiful hole
You dug for me

Hello non-believer
Of anything

Here lies a possibility,
But could you believe her?

The edge is on the horizon
The horizon is how you die
But the wave you’re currently riding
Is the fear you feel inside
As the doom continues rising
So does the panic to decide
So now the boat where you were hiding
Is now the place your soul has died
As you think of all the times you tried
And you let go of hope one final time
Blame the shade of sorrow for why you cried
And your final word becomes goodbye

If you ever feel the sadness in you growing
You never were the reason for me going

Sorry if you saw my love as poison
When it comes to failure I was the chosen

And to a world that’s evermore vacant
You weren’t the reason for me ever staying

Love was something I never knew
And if my love was warm well now it is frozen

Take the wool and pull it over someone else’s eyes please

It’s like everyone is set on destruction mode
And I am set to go… here’s the code, 123, watch me blow
But what happened? I don’t know

And the sign says “you are too qualified”
And the sign read “you are too good”
I apply instead and still get denied
He’ll reply and say “you misunderstood”

And the eye will say “all welcome here”
And the room will stare, “are you misplaced dear”
And the mind will lie and replace the fear
And his hand extends, “this way’s not clear”

Take for granted my kindness I give to you
Take for granted the nights I tried to get through
Take my love and bury it six feet under too
You can’t kill it no matter what you do

She’s at it again, same ole tricks
Like a snake using sex to lure sin
Like a witch with a capture potion
It’s the only way she can get any licks

She was a doll and they all wanted her to break.

You’re getting close, getting close, getting closer
You’re moving fast, always last, getting older
Nobody knows, though we asked, for some closure
Same ratios, lethal dose, then it’s over

An angel slipped from the clouds of heaven
Looking over eternity to get a better view of him
Golden gates spread into the wide open
She spiraled down the hope of his dreams
And he awoke with her feather under his pillow
And from its tip, he spilled his ink all over her future

She danced among the wails of purgatory
Decades she waited outside walls of longing
She stabbed the night so light could shine through
And every star that twinkles is a wish she made for you
His step grows lighter, while her wing drags across his bruise
Her heart carries the weights of love
Her love so pure an ounce can make dreams come true

I slip into his poetry like a favorite pair of pajamas.

Living alone, hiding decline
Rainbows to prison at anytime
Dust keeps collecting above his faint shrine
So he keeps to settling among the lost swine

To me, he’s worth more than any gold
Long ago his self-worth was sold
He dwells among shadows as he was once told
He’ll need to find his courage to be bold

He’s so deep in me
My aura is spinning
And through spirals I’m swimming
In a loop of beginnings
And with a touch of fate, no endings
These soulquakes

I am a galaxy so faint you can barely see it.

Clippings from the sleeve of my heart…

Sycamore

Like pieces of Sycamore branching off
Exposing the white of the bark
Exposing the light from within my sweet heart
These pieces break off so you can build an ark
Now take your worry and leave it in the dark

I would like to be crafty enough to grow this one. Some of you find words like molasses. Others dig and dig and dig and still find none.

50 Word Short Story Poetry

Years passed on and he always wondered how she got on with her life
But one evening, word finally returned, she ended her life that night
When he asked of her body, her grave, they said it was the ocean
She was never recovered from the boat she jumped, “there wasn’t a note son…”

So, thank you so much for 25,000 visits to this here blog cuz it just surpassed 25K! Woah. I wanted to write a 50 word short story in poetry format and since it’s October or nearly Halloween, I went with a death/ horror theme. I wanted to see how much impact I could give a poem with as little information about the characters as possible. I wanted there to be a sense of doom but also a feeling of empathy and unresolved questions. Like, did it make you wonder what happened to them? Just like he wondered all those years what happened to her. Did he imagine she was better off without him? Did he wonder if she was happy all those years? Does it make you wonder who they were to each other? Did you feel sad or gutted for him receiving such tragic news? Did you feel empathy or loss for him? Could you feel the mood or “put yourself in his shoes”?

By the way, I didn’t count the “the”, “and”, or “a”.

Can you write a 50 word short story too? I challenge you to do so, and brownie points if you can pull it off in poetry format. It doesn’t have to be a Halloween or horror theme, but if you’re up for the double challenge? I’m sure these 50 word short story thingys exist but I just came up with the idea of doing one in poetry format and Halloween themed. If my little story moved you, hit that like button or drop me a comment. And definitely let me know if you do the challenge. 👻👻👻

Tower of Sorrow

I am stranded in a tower of sorrow and I think I might need saving –

from the curse of a broken heart –
and how he left me alone in the dark –
but even worse drove a metaphorical spear into my side –
ensuring that my spirit died –
ensuring heaven was denied

Put a moat around my tears and get this blackness out of here

I am at the tower of sadness
Every hour in this madness

Deep Wide Open

He said my love is poison
But I’ve only ever loved him
Spaces for him were in the deep wide open
As I made room to let love in

I may be in pieces, it’s true I’ve been broken
But I glued them together and now I’m bespoken
As for my heart, it was returned from where it was stolen
And my feelings for you are deeper than any ocean

Hunter

Hunting for a future
Hunting for a life
Hunting for a meaning
To not end it tonight

Hunting for a mirror
That doesn’t reflect strife
Searching for an answer
When the question’s never right

Searching for the devil
Under the pale moonlight
Searching for forever
In the middle of a fight

Searching for the handle
Of the blade that’s in my back
Searching for the color
When all I see is black

Searching in my heart
For the love it always lacks
Searching for some shelter
From the endless reign of attacks

Searching for my enemy
In every hand I hold
Searching for some peace
In a land it isn’t sold

Searching for some warmth
In a heart forever cold
Searching for the treasure
But never finding gold

Searching for the best
By bringing out the worst
Searching for the bubbles
To come along and burst

Hunting near the tower
Where she brings out your thirst
Searching in the pages
Of how to stop her curse

Searching in a shadow
Where a truth was still a first
Searching any bottle
Or any woman who can nurse

Searching for the cure
But nothing ever works
Kissing many frogs
But only finding jerks

Searching for an exit
Where it doesn’t ever hurt
Searching for the day
You put in more effort

Searching and hunting
But only gathering dirt
He’s an ocean on an island
And time is the desert

Oh my goodness, kinda long, I hope it wasn’t too boring. I’m sorry my intelligence is that of a child and I can’t lure you in with exotic words and fancy punctuation. I know I’m not enough, I never have been voluptuous in any area. *sigh

Butterflies

Falling further into his dark skies
Even in the lows he gives me highs
Even when he’s gone his cape will fly
And when I’ve crossed a line he still will try

I extend my wings cuz love defies
He hides behind a wall of sad goodbyes
There’s writings all around that shield his lies
He needs a lot of fuel to hide his sighs

He claims I’m just a hunter here to pry
But that won’t explain the butterflies
He thinks I’m just a doll who only cries
But that won’t change the winnings of your prize

You can change your hand but fate has not a guise
Even through your troubles I am falling for your eyes
I stab the pitch black night so I can feel you rise
Baby you free me, look at that sunrise

© Delia Ross. 2019

I find him incredibly sexy and he turns me into a raving beast actually but I definitely don’t want to hunt or cage him…

Sorry for the long rhyme and double rhyme in the ends but I think it worked!?!

I know it’s only been like 5 minutes since I said it before but I loves him.

Vices

Diamonds and pearls, may please the girls, but his kiss is all I desire

Leather and fur, might make me purr, but his eyes set me on fire

Boys and their toys, always want noise, but his voice makes me tremble

And the heaven in me, well it takes a knee, for his body is a sacred temple

I suppose flowers are nice, but the poetry he writes, makes my soul assemble

And if I had time, to put his lips to mine, I’m certain our flame would burn higher

“She lives on Love Street/ lingers long on Love Street/ She has a house and garden/ I would like to see what happens/ la la la la la la la la la la” *skips off singing The Doors*

Look man, I would totally let you climb up through my window and read me poetry. Yah? I think we might even like some of the same bands. Giggles It’s okay if you don’t know me, many people don’t even know themselves. Let’s get lost together, in each other, and found again. I’m ready. And you may not know your worth but I would take a bullet for you. I would do anything for you really. 🌛🌜

P.S. I’m just a girl (you won’t need superpowers but you already have them inside you).

P.S.S. you can get to know me without letting the world in (or end).

P.S.S.S. I am a safe place (I won’t ask you your secrets and I won’t guilt-trip you if you don’t love me the way I do you).

P.S.S.S.S. you know me, we’re one, like yin and yang. Sillies.

Footsteps

Love is the variable
It is incomparable
I’ll stop loving you, just short of forever

Eyes never leave, his eyes on my back
And follow he will, every single track
She cannot turn around, and she knows that
But whether he knows is a different fact

Do the winds of fate ever slow?
Will her dusty eyes ever close?
Does her halo, in this hell, even glow?
She cannot live without him, does he know?

Small footsteps through the chimes of time
Deep footprints, for hers, he would climb
And through the wind he echoes “mine”
And in the dirt she leaves him rhyme

© Delia Ross. 2019

That first stanza, I know *sigh*, I come with mistakes.

Carat

I try to be real underneath the private
I shed skins of transparency where most will hide it
And words they slip off my tongue like velvet
I gift him poetry instead of expensive carat

© Delia Ross. 2019

If you are tired of reading my micropoetry, feel free to read my 3 part epic tragedy I wrote a few years back (more like over a decade ago but who’s counting)… it’s titled MY SON and I feel is some of my greatest work (it’s super easy to use the little search box on my site but also, this year was the first time I released it publicly, it previously could only be found in my book)…

Prozac

I told the doctor I don’t want to be issued Prozac
He guarantees, it’ll help the things, my future lack
I told the pharmacist, I had things I needed to get off my back
And with a smile, or a devil’s grin, I reached and took my sack

I told my friends, I’m sleeping well, though an insomniac
I tell them still, I’m up the hill, but I can’t relax
I take a knee, and pray to God, that was the climax
Both depression and anxiety yelling back at me to face the facts

© Delia Ross. 2019

Sidenote: I don’t really take Prozac but I could throw at you a slew of other prescriptions. Though I’m advocating for medical mary to be written for vets…because truthfully, it’s the ONE thing that works (and I feel less like ripping someone’s head off). If vets had access to medicinal mary, there’d be less suicides because big Pharma actually does make you more suicidal and so the propaganda and fear-mongering against that plant needs to stop *pops pill*

Dreamcatcher

For him, I’ll never stop wishing on a star

And so I cling on, to every poem, as if it were his hand or his very kiss reaching from the dark

For you, I keep your rhyme in my mind like a dreamcatcher hanging to keep out the harm

And so I place them in the very center of my heart

For me, your words are my only creed

And so I place them in between my every heartbeat

For us, the moments are worth every dream

And so I rest my eyes, behind the sorrow and cries and convince myself it’s exactly what I need

For her, I pray she finds her own feet

And so I settle my rage and then remember my age and offer her some shelter from the sea

For all involved, it’s a treacherous land

And so I shine a light, and pass up the fights, and offer my best apology

But for only you, my longing never is through

And so my love expands every dimension and every galaxy

The Kiss

I have this dream where we don’t talk
I’m in an alley having a cigarette
Waiting on a favorite band
And you appear

And I ask ‘what are you doing here’
But sweetly so no other can hear
There’s no one around just the rain
You stand and never explain

I smile anyway without regret
And you haven’t moved closer yet
And in a cloak your eyes are in pain
But I still smile anyway

I’m on the wall under a small balcony
Avoiding getting wet
Your hands are in your pockets
You don’t look as though upset

As the rain gets started
You move and take a step
And it kind of felt like lightening
My heart it felt it best

The patter of the rain –
Grew louder with every footstep
And every inch closer – I forgot more – of the alphabet

You get close to me and lightly touch my fingertips
And then you lift up my arm and take a puff of my cigarette

Your other hand still touching my other hand
You lift my head and kiss my lips
It’s hard to explain it
I thought I was alive but it was really the first thing I ever felt

Queen of the Knight

You sit there idle
With eyes that cut through the night
To your own doubt a disciple
Then you repeat the cycle

As if frightened or incapable
Without, dream or sight
A tongue now insatiable
But never one replaceable

You watch with eyes of glass
Through the crack hides your light
As the hours quickly pass
Your regrets grow with mass

In her silhouette forms a mirror
Of a Queen and a Knight
Where he can feel her nearer
And her words run clearer

She is a patient Queen
With eyes in the Moonlight
With every command he grows more clean
Whatever his direction is where she will lean

Her heart is a sword
And a Queen never quits a fight
She gives him love as a reward
To find her,he needs to move forward

© Delia Ross. 2019

Darkness Falls

Chance was cast aside
Like a broken promise forgotten
Friendship lay there rotting
Like a dead carcass
With his lover circling like a buzzard
Her heart as cold as the Arctic
Black as night is her word
A circus queen for the heartless
I’ve not read a thing she muttered
Nor drank from which she harvest
They are black seeds of dread
Crimson pools of tears from where I bled
Laughter from the ones who never suffered
Jupiter knows the ways I cried

All They Gave

All he gave her was his word
A direct line where love occurred

All she gave him was her heart
And she loved him from the start

All he gave her was his best
Every word jewels from his chest

All she gave him was more hope
A rainbow instead of a tightrope

All he gave her was a dream
With love shining as a moonbeam

All she gave him was his sight
Though he falters he is still her knight

Me just writing and dreaming of love… xoxo

Halo

He must love her like the wind
Wild and free and without end

His love must be the sun
Warming life from where it’s numb

His touch must be the moon
For the soul an endless womb

His gaze must be the light
Turning darkness into color overnight

His voice must be a dance
Where angels glide in a trance

His hope must be a rainbow
Forever glowing as her halo

Her love must be an ocean
Deep it goes her devotion

Woven

Can I have a moment
Can I have your time
Can you give me something
That is only mine?

Can you stay in focus
Can you clear your mind
Can you remain unspoken
And see our love refined?

Can you forgive what broke us
Can you leave worry behind
Can you feel our souls are woven
That our souls aligned?

Am I anywhere in your universe
How much more silence will you enforce
Why do you seem to be moving in reverse
Would you love me for better or worse?

© Delia Ross. 2019

Undiscovered

I live in the words of how another sees me
I live inside the bruises of past enemies
Ex-lovers chain me to memories of who I used to be
Held to the past of visions I am now blind to see

Many with offerings of second chances
But none offer a dime to help with my finances
I’ve been under their rule and cancelled the classes
That girl died when I removed her tinted glasses

I had to untangle the worry where it had knotted
I had to prune the weeds where my heart had rotted
I had to learn to dance where my memories were haunted
I had to hug the parts they all said were unwanted

I may be alone but I am not desperate
People may change but I’m still a skeptic
I may be tame but I’m growing restless
I may be weak but I’ve never been helpless

It is true I’ve taken many lovers
My past is filled with several colors
Regrets have visited over many summers
So much wasted time for a love still undiscovered

© Delia Ross. 2019

Dust and Worry

I wonder under all the dust and worry
Does he ever wish he took a different journey
Will he change the ink and start a different story
Can he clear his vision where it has been blurry

Where the wall is high and the gate is locked
Where her head appears where a door is blocked
Where she keeps her eye on the prey she marked
Where the middle is the plan she plot

And I a whisper or a thought
Or just a dream he never caught
Or a reason he never saught
Or the love for which he should have fought

It matters not if I am up or down
Or if I am sideways or standing
My love for him is never-ending
And should be worn like a crown

© Delia Ross. 2019

Angelism

I traveled far just to find his den
I walked barefoot through the Garden of Eden
I passed graveyards of original sin
I ate the apple and I’d do it again

Under his altar
I heed to prayer
I kneel and I receive offer
And taste his holy water

Where I begin to transcend
And I feel clean again
My wings stretch and extend

Church bells ring with a deep moan
The harvest comes where he does roam

His scripture flows deep in my vein
Where under his rule my enemies are slain

His kiss and touch my communion
With every moment I feel more human

I bless him with eternal devotion
Our souls together gently woven
When one my halo is golden
Fully healed and never broken

In my soul his name is etched
On my heart I wear his crest
With my love his soul is blessed
Together we are at our best

Burned on my wing is our decree
It wasn’t written to deceive
Two pieces of the puzzle now complete
A map to our destiny

Endless Love

I found a dream once
In a bottle
Walking along a white shore
Beaches of the whitest sand

Tides that whisper softly
Wishes and wants in the breeze

The bottle an endless joy
From which I drink again and again

Melancholy a distant sun
Enough to keep warm
But never burn

Oceansize kisses
From his tongue
To my soul

Seagulls swooping
Bringing poetry
In their sails

Skies of glass
And shattered clouds
With every peek he is there

Love is the breeze
From which he descends

A salty essence or tears
From times he cried
When I wasn’t here

The love is life
And I take shelter
Underneath his seashell

My sighs like morning dew
Where everything rises
Into something new

Rebirth in the stars
Fears chase comets
And forget us here

Every footstep a memory
Of what’s to come

A set of two
Of everything we’ve done

A beautiful moon in agreement
Of the life we choose
Forever full

And white beaches
That never end

© Delia Ross. 2019

Homeless

That sound is silence
The quiet act in violence
My thoughts in a riot
As if on autopilot

He is not the best
Not even a little
Though like the rest
I’ve set for remittal

Just maybe he is the worst
As I fell for him first
But he is an endless thirst
With no quench for the cursed

The damned be gone!
There is never any dawn
I must carry on
Where his ghost has spawn

I make love to nothing
A ghost I am hunting
One with his absence
A love without an address

Illusion

Words needn’t be backed up with a promise to have meaning
Lying seems to be the direction everyone is leaning
Tongues twist and slither without feeling
Inserting poison which keeps us from dreaming
And as the blood boils our hearts stop beating
Hate simmers and spreads in a cycle of repeating
And from this dark spiral we keep feeding
Outnumbered, my feet and love start receding
Here comes another decade of me screaming
Hope faded with the dawn of needing
My love is the only love that can bring healing
My soul is weary and ready for eternal sleeping
I fight to stay alive God willing
I wish I could stop my love from ever leaking
These demons feast from me and leave me freezing
As I lay dying I start believing-
Love is just an illusion to keep me from leaving

Seeds of Love

There is a tourniquet on her tongue
There is a swell in her heart where he stung
There are written words that remain unsung
There is a list of wrongs that they all hung

There is a trail of ash where lightning struck
There is a stem remaining from her petals he pluck
There is a girl with hope but never any luck
There is quicksand where her feet are stuck

There are rooms without any remorse
And days we seem to make it worse
Where life exists only in verse
They leak from pages and turn to curse

There is a small window where he may care
But you will never get to meet him there
He will pull the blind so they cannot stare
And wear a mask that says beware

There are stones to throw whether wrong or right
And reasons to keep them all up at night
There are teeth attached to mouths that bite
And mistakes so bright you won’t need a light

There are roads we build of the unknown
With caverns of secrets we will never own
And shame like ice we carve a home
Faces with frowns of moments blown

If you stop and take a look around
At your feet growing up from the ground
It grows so high now past your crown
This is where the seeds of love are found

Stone

Moving forward, turning corners, never finding home
Keep listening, less speaking, and most are always wrong
I go the distance that few ever roam
Universal lessons seem to keep me on my own
Often these tribulations can only be learned alone
Weakened and discouraged I’ll stop but not for long
My heart more calloused and hard like bone
Whatever it takes to keep me strong
With the wisdom of knowing that looking back can turn me to stone

And so this lesson I pack up and carry
The weight of them always seems to vary
Some are black and some are cherry
Some will taste like a strawberry
Some will make you say Hail Mary
Some are found in the morning obituary
Most will leave you cold and weary
With eyes that sting and oh so blurry
These streets have roadkill of doubt and worry

Self-medicate to try and heal
And get the energy to climb uphill
Another battle of self-will
Another demon I have to kill
Swallow the pain just like a pill
Buried deep so I can’t feel
There’s mostly lows and little thrill
And not an exit out of here
By now my soul is feeling ill
The answers are never clear

Tie my boot without goodbye
Can’t sit around to watch me cry
More of those with every sigh
If you could open it and peer inside
It would likely appear tie-dye
Like an endless horizon in the sky
Pinks and purples which mystify
There my soul longs to fly
Not depths of low but certain high
And now not a tear in my eye

You’ll never get close to me
I live by this decree
Very few are ever worthy
But God has a skeleton key
Buried under a Joshua Tree
Searching will leave you thirsty
The depths I’ve cried fill up a sea
And by this I’m already drowning
It’s past my knee
But the undertow came quickly

Weeping Willow

She is not a tornado
She is the wind needed to sail
She is not ammo
She is the scope needed in hell
She is not woe
Her smile is hidden under veil
She is the result of a Weeping Willow
Growing taller where she fell
Where others only see shadow
She is the path of a hidden trail
She is not a black hole
She is the breath from which you inhale
She is not the wisdom of Plato
Or the beauty of a comet tail
She is full of love for you
Without measure and off the scale

The End

I want to walk with him until the end
Stand before hell both condemned
As long as he holds my hand
I can face whatever God will send

I want to touch his face
As the world falls, feel his embrace
Holding me tight to ease the ache
Protecting me from the bite of fate

I want to see his eyes at the end of a rainbow
That is where our kisses go
That is where our love will grow
The end, together, is an afterglow

Kites

His words take me to such heights
Atmospheres I have never flown

In moments I am taking flights
Through fields of the unknown

My soul must look like the Northern Lights
I wonder if to him I glow

And if it is to me he writes
It’s not possible this I know

But that’s a doubt for different nights
When we’re flying over the Arctic Zone

His words as invitation invites
Thaw the places I have froze

For in his words I take deep plights
Blooming from the ashes where I’ve grown

The way his words in me incites
The rise of a feather, not the weight of stone

I take it in, I take the sights
My life less monochrome

Our souls tangled together like kites
My eyes engaged completely where you roam

Eyes Like Diamonds

His eyes
Create galaxies
Heavenly bodies
And earthquakes
In my bones

His eyes
Blue as a sky
For my mind
Shining diamonds
A favorite prize

His eyes an ocean
Deep depths to explore
Creating motion
Sinking evermore
My heart his shore

His eyes like waves
Crash into existence
Can they see
I was made for thee
Without permission

His eyes cast rays
Heating my skin
Warming my days
I can feel again
For him love always

Age of Reason

I struggle with reason. I dwell on it, rub over it like a pig in mud. Try it on, wear it overnight, sometimes invite it over for the weekend. And when pleasing, cook it a good meal. It takes awhile to break in, like a good pair of shoes that you love but that hurts your feet. They bleed and cause blisters yet you wear them anyway. You think the money or time invested is now worth the pain. So many hours pounding the streets in them. The pain never fades, it burrows and claws its way into every moment, crushing stone as you walk. Time moves on, leaving bitter trails stained with blood, a journey harder than once thought. Your worry weighing down, as peace is not coming back, and it cost more than you originally bought. In the end, you come to know every season. Every why. Every when. Every how. Reason will be an uninvited guest. Knowledge will begin to feel like treason. How could you not know? Until this very moment. With death lingering like a demon.

Renown

Like the weight of gravity holding me down
Feeling the pressures of existence
Wanting to fly free, there’s no sky over me
Sending messages into subspace
Receiving smiles as a frown
Crawling over grace
Close my eyes, see his face
Hear his voice, lessen the distance
Secrets made to ease the resistance
His eyes were made to love in an instance
His hands were paved to offer assistance
He wears patience as a crown
A vector of hospitality
He washed over me completely
His words nests in my heart so sweetly
His voice fills me deeply
I want to wear his touch as my gown
Mostly, I want to see him around
He makes my spirit renown

Sun and Moon

BOOM…
Her noise crashed into existence
An adulterer of daylight
In the eyes of the night a mistress
Still the Sun would chase her with all of his might
Penetrating years to lessen the distance
Every sky diamond flickers white candle light
But ask him of commitment and he’s a terrible witness
He will disappear before the Moon is in sight
His energy expelled before the ink dries from words written
Feeding from his lies as a tiny parasite
Chewing on his poison never seeking his permission
Ignoring red flags as your soul fills with blight
Asking for truth only delivers misinformation
Dancing for love on the back of the night
Keep chasing light despite its resistance

Awareness

Our words like feathers carry no weight
To his ears an uninvited guest who overstayed
Still we’re spoonfed lies to minimize the ache
Just an innocent bystander who took the bait

He will circle you inside a barricade
He will taste the wound to see if you’re afraid
He will take the route you feel most betrayed
His words were never there to offer aid

If you need more pain he will accommodate
If you want his love he won’t participate
There are many already at his gate
His hands will lead you straight to his grave

I would gladly place my life at his blade
And gently kiss his hands as they preyed
And from my mouth not one complaint
And though dying my eyes finally awake

Orbits

Orbits caught in gravity
They form and make a galaxy

Hands that grasp the sands of time
Bonds that form and never die

Love which riddles lie with truth
Tongues which move like deja vu

Open doors and open arms
Ride the bull with a crown of thorns

Forgiveness flowing and still current
Forever his devoted servant

Names are roads rarely spoken
Trust are chains never broken

Silver

It’s not terribly hard to see you’re always chasing after young silver
Spend your days shinning every dime by the muddy river
Try to hide reflections of a liar in its mirror
If the devil bit you in the head it wouldn’t make it that much clearer
But I’m going to cover you in truth until you shine like glitter
I doubt anything I write can make you more bitter
You’ll probably claim you’re a victim and call me a killer
But neither of us are walking out of here a winner
My heart lost its color and settled for winter
I told you to shoot but you failed to pull the trigger
And now my love for you will always just kind of linger
If you ever want a friend you’re invited for dinner
If you ever need a rare element that’s where I can deliver
I hope one day you will warm my heart from this shiver
Until then my soul will just tremble and quiver

(He always wants the young silver – she’ll never want what he can give her)

Paradise

I need your starlight
The dreams the same every night
I fall asleep in your skies
I wake up to your kind eyes

And with a kiss the Sun will rise
And by your breath the wind chimes
And with your touch my eyes will dry
You are my favorite sky

Your lips are the best prize
Your eyes hypnotize
You are my favorite high
Your mind is a sunrise
Your love is a paradise

Armor

I know not what drives him
How deep his senses swim
Which fear can make him cower
What eats away his hour
From which tear his pain will flower
Who tells him that he matters
How tall I’ll need a ladder
What brings him to his laughter
Who helps him when he’s sadder
Why his eyes pierce deeper than a dagger
How his words can make me stagger
Or why he wears such heavy armor

Evolving

His pale skin
Invites me in
His lips of sin
Excite my sense
His mind ablaze
His kiss my slave
I’d do it again
And over again
Keep crawling
Keep calling
Every word I’m fallen
With every breath I’m all in
Even when he’s stalling
Even while I’m bawling
Any kind of dawning
Please don’t fear me darlin’
Need you every morning
Please tell me that you’re coming
Even when it’s storming
For you, I’m always yearning
For you, always returning
My soul for you is stirring
My fire for you is burning
My thoughts of you are turning
This love ever evolving

Give And Receive

Give me sin, give me repentance
Whatever your secrets, put them in a pendant
If I falter, hand me my sentence
Will slow crawl to you and ask for forgiveness
Forget the past and live in the present
Live each moment like the world is ending
Let each breath be one that is healing
Kiss me and give me wings for ascending
Promise me you’ll give me arms for defending
I’ll give you as much love you need for your mending
